Take 287 up to Wellsboro, nice road!
Wellsboro Diner is a must when you're there!

My sister and brother-in-law made a trip up last summer. I was hoping to go this summer, but I'm not sure now. They took some beautiful pictures though, looks like a great area.

There used to be an inexpensive plane tour of the canyon from a local airport. Can't remember the details, last time I was there was in '84.

Worth the trip if still available.

I was just out there last Sept. There are a number of good inexpensive campgrounds, some with cabin rentals. We rented a cabin at stony fork creek and the road south from there turned to dirt and had some side roads with water crossings that would be passable on an adventure type bike, but not in the wife's Corolla:rofl. There were a lot of nice roads in the area, unfortunately for me, the only two-wheeling we did were our mountain bikes and trailer for my daughter. Good hiking trails, photo opportunities, a train excursion(good entertainment for kids), etc in range. All in all, nice area to spend a few days.

The canyon is just off rte 6 take the 660 for the eastern side of the canyon. A big +1 on the diner. Good food and don't forget dessert:evil.. Wellsboro is a great town.

There's 2 state parks for the canyon. One on the east side, Leonard Harrison State Park, and the Colton Point Park on the west side. Depending on time of day, one would probably be better for pictures than the other.
Harrison is the one at the end of Rt. 660.
Colton Point is off of Rt. 6.
Take your pick, or do both!

I was there two weeks ago. Stayed at Canyon Counrty Campground and ate at the Wellsboro Diner. Good food. Nice little town, lit with gas street lights. Don't bother asking at the town information office about the canyon though - I'm not sure either of the two young women ther have ever been around it. Nice dirt roads on the west side of the canyon. The offical canyon map shows most of these roads. Sorry no pictures.

I was just there last September , probably passed Buzzbomber there!
I too stayed at the Stony Fork campground:

I was the only one in the secluded tent area because the day I left to go up there , a friggin' hurricane was rolling by ! That is the worst storm I have ever road in.
Here is that water crossing(I was told the bridge washed out in a storm a number of years ago , but was never rebuilt) :

You are 11 miles from Wellsboro at this point , beautiful area to ride , cool little towns , such a Morris , PA :

The round is in mid-june , supposed to be quit an event!
My trip got cut short , but i plan to go back up there this summer , and ride across route 6to Kinzu dam.

Hey, I know that crossing. I was there last year trying to figure out if my buddies M109 would get across.

The decision was to not try and go to the Wellboro diner and eat instead.
