To think he was riding all the stuff we ride before most of us were even conceived and to the last day is amazing. He really wasn't an addition to the motorcycling community, He was really the foundation.

    Godspeed Robbie.
I had the pleasure of riding with him a few times. When it was easy to ride around it, he wasn't scared to ride thru the deep end of a mud hole. I saw him do it more then once.

Mr. Blackwater will be dearly missed. He was the first person to tell me to get ready in 15 minutes on my first Turkey Trot. He took 5 riders, the other being my friend from Mobile: Dave. I was fully planning on riding again with him this year. JeepGeek, myself, and small handful of others did as many miles as we wanted with Mr. Blackwater and even refueled many a time in the woods thanks to him. My condolences to the family. I will miss him.

Sorry to hear about Robbie, He has been a legend in the area for a long time and the rides with him legendary. There have been few campfires in Blackwater that I can remember his name not coming up. He will be missed, but I got a feeling that legend will live on and be passed to riders he never knew.

Hope all had a good time at Perry mountain, I went to Jennings for a track day and "mock" races. Always surprises me when you call something a race (no money, no trophy) people still go crazy, 2 riders up the berm in turn 1 (1 totaled bike, 1 bent bike, concussion, broken shoulder etc.) and another ended his day on turn 10. Race got "red flagged". Anyways all good, turning my attention towards turkey trot now, looking forward to seeing you all, Peace, out

Wow what a Monday. All this bad news in the air and then I hear Tom Petty is on his way out. No one here gets out alive, said Jim Morrison. Yea verily.

No kidding, 2017 is going to try to give 2016 a run for its money on the suckage scale.

I'll miss Tom. I still have a few of his tunes on my road trip playlist like:

Good musician and a decent actor too, he did well in "The Postman".

At 66, he was just into the prime of his life :cry.

PMMC DS ride was great except very dusty, so they tell me! Hey someone has to be the leader! You just can't beat the trails at PM especially if you like big whoops like Ian does because they have some gigantic ones. If you don't believe me just ask Ian (mtntrnsplnt). I had a great time seeing everyone and meeting John (montanarocks) for the first time, boy is he a hoot to be around. Him and Gimmee will keep you entertained constantly. That's one thing about the PAR crowd, they are not lacking when it comes to entertainment, and that's the truth ruth! If we had trails like that around here to ride we would all be better riders but hey we do have everyone beat when it comes to sand!

We are all saddened by the passing of our dear friend and mentor "senior dawg"! I am somewhat consoled that he went out doing what he loved the most and that was riding his dirt bike in blackwater forest. I have known Robbie and worked with him and rode with him for about 45 yrs and so I have many fond memories to remember him by. Please keep his family in your prayers through this difficult time for them!

Great time at Perry Mountain...sure wish it was closer. Love that BDuke and rest of the gang. The riding was stellar and that trip to Selma...let's just say what happens in Selma, stays in Selma. Lost my iPhone on a dirt nap but my kid talked me through the find my iPhone app. Damned if I didn't find it the next morning buried in the dirt and pine straw right where I'd looked the day before. Technology. My truck's tranny has been dying a slow death for the past 2 years. It finally expired on the way home, limped into the McDonald's on Avalon Blvd about 10 miles from my garage. Already replaced her with a 17 model of her crusty old self. Actually paid less for the replacement than I did for the old girl in 06 since I went with the stripped down model...crank windows and all.

On a different note, anyone know if a uhaul 5X9 Utility trailer can handle 2 big bikes (HD and GS). I'm looking to trailer the big boys to this http://www.bmwmcon.org/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=433756&module_id=260906 and head up with the better half. Anyone interested?

Good to hear from you Rick.

Sorry you can't make the Trot.

That reminds me of a story.
Bout 9 years ago, after a very small amount of vino Rick and I were camping at Spec pond and decided since everyone was off Black Friday we should gather a group and TROT across Eglin.
Thus the Turkey Trot was born.

    Next year Rick!!!

Yea verily, Maestro--haven't missed one yet! This has become the premier ADV event in NW FL, and it's the one I look forward to the most. IIRC, there were maybe 10 riders on the first one--I went thru my pics and I believe this one is from the first Turkey Trot...that green KLX300 is the bike I had the infamous LOG incident on. Ow, my back!:waysad
    TurkeyTrot09001.jpg

And the beauty of it is, it doesn't matter if 10 riders or 100 riders show up--it's always a blast! Between the riding and the firepit stories/hijinks, it's the most fun ya can have with yer clothes on:happay
