More than few customers asked us how Kriega OS-Base fit on a 2019 KTM 690 Enduro equipped with Perun moto Luggage Rack SD and Heel Guards. Thanks to Geoff, who sent me pictures of his bike with that setup, we can confirm that this setup works great - fuel filler is free and bags are just where they are supposed to be. Thanks to pre-drilled holes on the rack, Kriega OS-rack loops can be easily bolted to the rack. Here is Geoff's setup, with two OS-18 Adventure packs mounted.

Julian Challis, from Adventure Bike Rider Magazine, recently tested Perun moto 2019 KTM 690 Enduro Luggage rack with Extension plate.

We received very positive feed back from him. Coming from so experienced rider, it makes us very proud.

Few photos of 2019 KTM 690 Enduro R Julian tested, taken by him.

2019 KTM 690 Enduro R has improved geometry and different fuel tank / sub-frame than older bikes. This provides more room for the luggage, as tail is longer.

Here are few pictures of Mosko moto Reckless 40 bags and 1 gallon Rotopax can, fitted on our 2019 KTM 690 Enduro R, equipped with Perun moto KTM 690 Enduro R Lugagge rack SD. This setup still leaves enough room on the seat, as only rearmost part of the seat is covered by Reckless 40.

As with every Reckless 40 setup on this bike, refueling takes some time, but apart from that, everything works out great - bags are very narrow and hug the bike perfectly. I didn't used heat shield, as bags rest on the side fairings completely. One of the main advantages of Reckless 40 is very high build quality - in case of fall these bags act as cushion pillow and they can withstand lots of beating.

And carrying Rotopax provides additional 100 km range, very handy when exploring some remote back roads.

Hey @Perun , can you tell if the rack for the 2019+ 690 would work reasonably well as passenger grab handles, or not at all?
I would like the rack for my solo trips, but believe it or not, I do take my girlfriend as pillion on some offroad rides.

    Good question.

When I was designing Luggage rack for 2019 I had an idea to incorporate grab handles into design. I made few prototypes, but I wasn't satisfied. First, looks were massively compromised. Second, more important, having a grab handles integrated into design made fitment of some rack-less systems less than ideal.

So I designed outside contours of the rack to be larger than on our 2008-2018 models, providing good grip point for maneuvering the bike around the garage or for picking it up. Since edges are chambered it is safe to grab rack and push/pull the bike, even with bare hands.

    20191204_080857.jpg

When the pillion needs to grab the rack, situation is OK, but not perfect. On first photo, Andreja is grabbing the rack more forward than on second photo.

    20191204_080728.jpg

    20191204_080752.jpg

There is room for his fingers on the underside of the rack, but grab is not ideal.

    20191204_080759.jpg

It will work for some short trips, but for longer trips something else may be required.

One solution is to mount OEM grab handles on top of the rack, but I wouldn’t suggest it as required bolts are too long – M8x100

I have an idea for some time, to fabricate small add-on grab handles. I could place them ideally, an install would be simple bolt-on procedure, so one can install/remove them in a minute. I have two versions sketched. I will dig into this in upcoming weeks. If you are interested, I will share my progress.

Winter time here, too cold for (comfort) riding. Excellent time for our friend Baltrekk to take few photos of our 2019 KTM 690 Enduro R, kitted with Perun moto Luggage rack and Heel guards and equipped with Mosko moto Reckless 40 bags. So far, this is my favorite setup for single or weekend trips.

In last couple fo months we manufactured great deal of products. Some of them had some really minor cosmetic flaws, bad enough so we couldnt sell those products, but not bad enough to scrap them. So we decided to sell them, but with 70% discount.

Here is the list of available products and associated discount codes. If interested, just place an order as usual and use discount code on checkout. If code isn't working, someone was faster.

That looks like a Mosko Reckless 40 on KTM 690 Enduro R with Perun rack. How do you get around Mosko R40 sitting on the gas fill cap?

I posted the same question above. Looks like the Mosko R40 sits on top of the gas filler cap and covers it. How do you get the Mosko out the way to fill up the gas tank?

I just made my peace with the fact that I will need 2 extra minutes every time I refuel. I open beaver tail, loose rear straps and slide bag forward, so it clears gas cap. After refueling, I just tighten rear straps again. Once I set it up, I don't touch lower straps.

    Hi Perun,

I posted earlier question about accessing fuel filler cap with Mosko R40. Couple of follow questions.

I see you show detail photos of both the popular soft luggages . That being Mosko R40 and the Kriega OS-BASE with various size side bags. The Kriega OS-BASE looks like it sits nicely forward of gas filler cap. All things equal, which system do you prefer on the KTM 690?

Question regarding the Kriega OS-BASE side strap that comes down to the Perun heel guard. Are the holes in the Perun heel guard large enough to allow the Kriega metal loop buckle pass through? Photos look like they do?

Thank you for posting nice detail photos of various luggage systems with your luggage rack and KTM 690 Enduro R.

I just purchased your luggage rack from my U.S.A. partner. Nice fitment and finish.

    Hi Kam,

congrats on your new luggage rack, good choice. ;)

Kriega OS-base leaves gas cap exposed so refueling is easy. In general, Kriega stuff is high quality and I never had any problems with their products.

Mosko moto R40 covers gas cap, so refueling requires some work. This may be tiring, especially if you are riding in a group - your friends will usually have to wait for you.

I use 690 to explore off road areas around my home town, for 200-300-400 km rides. So I usually have to refuel only once a day. Also, I ride mostly off road and I usually find myself in places where I shouldn't be with this bike and my riding skills. I like that R40 are really, really sturdy, and they act as cushion pillow for the bike, when I fall. I don't say Kriega's can't serve this role, but R40 looks more sturdy, to me. Kriega's are very durable too, just Mosko is overgeneralized, in god way. So, my choice is R40.

But if I take 690 for some mixed ride, longer than 300 km, I may choose Kriega's.

Both systems are really good. If moving a bag to refuel seems like a big PIA to you, answer is easy.

Kriega metal loop can slide through slot on Perun moto Heel guards.

    Hi Perun,

Since you make the luggage rack for the popular KTM 690 Enduro R, could you recommend a few small tail bags? For day trips and maybe tools?

What do you think of the KTM 5 liter tool bag ?
    https://ktmtwins.com/collections/kt...al-water-proof-rear-bag-exc-xc-sx-sxf-sxs-exc

What about the small 5 liter Kriega Overlander S-OS 6 Drypack?

    Thanks. Appreciate your insight.

I am going to need the Perun Heel Guards. Any defect ones? Who is your big U.S.A. distributor?

    Hi Kam,

it depends how much capacity you need. That KTM 5 liter bag is nice. Kriega US-5 or OS-6 are nice too. Strapping system is similar. If you took Perun moto rack, you may consider getting Kriega OS rack loops and mounting them on the underside of the rack, like this - https://www.perunmoto.com/blogs/blog/2019-ktm-690-enduro-luggage-rack-and-kriega-us-10-us-20 (it works on our 2008-2018 690 and 701 racks too). That will provide very quick mounting.

Regarding capacity, I would go for something larger, at least 10 liters - Kriega US-10 or OS-12. Giant loop, Wolfman and others have nice bags in this capacity range too.

If you need it only for tools, check Mosko moto Fatty tool roll, cool thing.

If you need even more capacity, 25 liters work well too - https://www.perunmoto.com/blogs/blog/italy-2017-road-trip-and-impressions-about-the-gear

We sell directly and ship by DHL Express - www.perunmoto.com. We ship once a week, so in worst case scenario, you will have your order in 10-12 days, usually much faster. And no import fees for US, so all you need to pay is what you see on web site.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi Perun,

Mounting the Kriega OS rack loop for underneath looks very clean.

I took a quick look at my Perun rack on my 2018 KTM 690 Enduro R. I see the four recessed holes on top. However, my version doesn't seem to have the lower holes closer the the gas filler neck. Should I drill holes?

I'll try place order for heel guard over holiday. No rush getting it out.

    Thanks.
