I wonder how that all works...It was likely found on a beach, it was not stolen...so is it finders keepers?

A good many famous guitars have "disappeared" over the years, some uncovered some not. Buddy holly had a fender strat stolen after a gig, consider it's value today. Back in 1971 when keith richards was living in the south of france, some turds walked in and out with about a dozen guitars, pretty much anything used on "exile on main street". In 1965 bill wyman had one of his beloved framus bass stolen in new zealand. The bass was known to be in sydney for many years as an open secret and changed hands a number of times carrying it's shady provenance as if part of it's patina. Just about five years ago it's then owner had a conscience rush and made contact with bill wyman, who is well known for his comprehensive attention to record keeping and it was quickly established with serial# proof that it was bill's bass. The sydney owner happily sent the framus back to england and it's very happy rightfull owner. Love these stories.:freaky

Billy Squire had a 58 or 59 Les Paul stolen a while ago and he is still hot about it.

The les paul that clapton used on the bluesbreakers "beano" album and a lot of "cream" songs, stolen during a rehearsal break in the uk. It's a lot like owning a picasso and you can't tell anyone about it!:eek1

I would get that S.O.B out of the Gibson Nashville shop as quickly as possible.

The Feds raid that place every few weeks and steal stuff themselves.........

He bailed on a Red Rocks show I was at in '16. Cheap Trick wasn't bad, though.

The whole story was printed somewhere, Guitar Player, or the NYT or somewhere. A guy who worked at the airport bought it from the salvage company for a pittance. He was a guitar player who played in lounge acts all over the Carribean and a Frampton fan who knew the story recognized the guitar some years later when he saw the guy playing it. A year or so of negotiations ensued and he eventually bought it and sold it back to Peter.

ETA: Had the details wrong, but Pete goes over it in the first ten minutes. The following hour is pretty much his he does his job and pretty fascinating, if you're into that doers of thing.

That's amazing. I don't think I feel like he does. PS - who the hell is the old man in the article? Peter Frampton's great grandfather?!

What's funny is old Pete is a doppelgänger for a guy I worked with for years.

I saw him in 1972 at a rock festival in northern England a buddy and I were working at. Was behind or on the side of the stage so not a great view but it sounded good. They played Feel Like I Do for a long time.
