I was in Los Angeles over the weekend to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday and I wanted to see the Electric Motorcycle Exhibit at the Petersen Museum in downtown LA. While there are only 20 EMs on display I must say I was impressed at the detail that goes into these machines. See the following review: https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2019/04/0 ... torcycles/

The following posts are some random photos I took. Great museum btw!

My daughter's favorite by far was the Cake. Some excellent design going on.

Too bad one of the early Zeros couldn't have made it there.

Yeah, there were lots of gaps. Not surprising since it was sponsored by HD. Still, a positive showing!

I thought the WSM PACT (3rd photo from the top) was kinda sharp looking, so I sent off an email to them. Here's the reply:

    Edited to add my reply.

    Hi Walt,
Thanks for the reply. Your PACT is a sharp looking supermoto. I'm really keen to find an offroad electric machine like the ALTA. In reality I need about a 5 hour run time on difficult trails. I think that's beyond the current battery technology. I'd settle for changing batteries mid-day, but they need to have a fast swap-out method. The bike would need to be a light weight enduro machine without an onboard charger. The bicycle based machines aren't strong enough to take the pounding.
I understand how difficult it is to keep prices down with limited production. The weak Canadian dollar is only worth 75 cents so prices that seem OK in the US are painful here. A quality dirtbike sells for $12,000 and assuming I'd pay a 50% premium for electric, that would be $18,000. That's the equivalent of $13,500 US so a custom bike is out of reach. Thanks for keeping electric machines in the public eye. Battery weight is more tolerable on a street bike, so they are more practical to build.
