We attended the Tour of California for a few days this week and probably 95% or more of the lead, support and referee bikes were all BMW's and primarily 1200GS variants, plus all the CHP motorcycle escorts were Beemers. It was like BMW Parade Day.

Here's a shot of one of the TV camera bikes and I think it looks like an F800GS from the front but I may be wrong? He's following race leader and overall winner Levi Leipheimer

Outstanding race. I think there's going to be good bike racing all year. Woot!

Fun race to watch. The dance of the bicycles, motorcycles, and Subarus was waaay better than the usual nascar crash derby or your basic "-ball" sport usually seen on the tube.

If the Missouri race makes this year, i'm going to have to slip over and check it out in person.

Missouri is on - so far - the route has been announced and you can find it here http://www.tourofmissouri.com/stages.html The race starts in St. Louis this year and finishes in KC

I just signed up to ride support for the MS 150 - on my F800GS. Fun, but probably not nearly as cool as supporting a pro race. That would be over the top!

The grand tours have always been surrounded by a swarm of BMWs. I like watching the old films of Paris-Roubaix or the Giro and checking out the bikes.
