ScreenShot1740.jpg ScreenShot1741.jpg Completed the first part of the break in on the new bike today. I almost didn't recognize Ridge Road with all the logging this past winter.

Very nice new toy! Looks like you pulled the KTM mirrors off the DRZ before you sold it.

Those are the standard mirrors. But I do have a spare set in case something happens. :D

By the way, my license plate broke off between here where I took this picture and the bottom of the hill in Mt Holly Springs. Foolishly I only had on bolt holding it and when I got to the bottom of the hill I still had the bolt and just the corner of the plate. I looked back at this picture and figured that it must be along the trail between where I was and where I took the pic. It was. Now I have three bolts holding it. Brand new plate! Maybe I'll get a new one.

They did a controlled burn on the North mountain last week. A friend asked me if it was my house.

A nice 60 mile trip around the North Block of Michaux and we saw 3 other riders out checking on the burn. I was very surprised how large the burn area is. Someone said it was 1400 acres.

The 1,400 acre burn this week is only part of what they plan for this Spring/Summer. The total is over 1,900 acres they plan to burn in Michaux.

Sorry I missed the ride yesterday. Family commitments. I did do about 50 miles in Michaux in the morning yesterday. There was a group of 6-8 riders doing the MABDR that I ran into at the first forest road by my house. I talked to them briefly when they stopped at Ridge Road to verify their route. I gave them a heads up about the burn area, and potential road closures, and wished them well for the rest of their journey.

That is great! It was a year ago that I saw the sidecar. The photo of me on it popped up on my facebook page the other day.

I won't be able to make it tonight. It would have been cool to see the sidecar rig in action.

Need some guidance. A buddy wants to ride Michaux and camp for the weekend. From what I read, trails are not open to MC. Are you guys riding on just forest roads or trails on the sly?

He rides a Husky 701 (cc might be off a few) and I have a KTM 350 EXC and a BMW GS. Both are plated. Would my 350 be OK or would I be better on my GS?

Coming from Philly so trying to not go too far. Would ride the GS, truck the 350

    Thanks

Only the forest roads are open to motorcycles, which must be licensed to ride on them. People who ride the trails on the sly can end up with big fines from the forest rangers, and make bikers look bad to state agencies we are trying to convince to open trails to motorcycles. Either of your bikes will work in Michaux, but I would choose the 350.

To legally ride single and double track you need to go to Famous Reading Outdoors, AOAA, or Bald Eagle State Forest.
