Having ridden both many times, I would suggest going to Bald Eagle state forest and taking the three fiddy. Camp at Poe valley or Poe paddy and you will have all the incredible drivable trails you can handle starting 1/4 mile from your tent. Might want to bring an ultralight rod with a 1/16 ounce mepps rooster tail also since there are several world class trout streams (penns Creek).

I do ride Famous Reading Outdoors. I'll see what the other guys are riding; if they are riding small bikes I will too.
    Thanks

All of the ATV Trail Systems on DCNR land are ATV only and Michaux falls into that rule plus there is not any Driveable Trail in Michaux. When we ride it is on the dirt roads through the forest and they have over 200 miles of road. If your KTM is plated and inspected go with it.

We rode last night above US 30 and it's very dusty. I should have taken a photo coming into Long Pine because with the limestone all of the trees were gray form the dust.

Denny, all of the rocks you guys planted that day grew very nicely for the DS ride. :D

Those are fake pictures, I didn’t see a stretch of dirt that long without rocks all day.

I didn't get any pics two weekends ago but I was riding Michaux and decided to take High Rock Rd. off Rattlesnake Run. Various maps show High Rock turning into a trail or something and not being accessible as a through road. I figured I would see what's at the end anyway.
Well it went all the way through to Cold Springs... I think.

Has something changed? is my map outdated?

Sad to see it ended with a period instead of an ellipsis. I think that may be why we're seeing a dying sport, there is no generational hand off. I have loved and enjoyed Michaux for the years that I lived in the area. Camped and rode ATV's at Michaux as well as dual sport along the legal roads. Best memories of getting my wife involved on a DR200 were at Michaux! But something is fundamentally wrong with the state of any offroad sports. Whether it be political special interests, population density, what have you, I'd feel remiss in pointing out the generational gap closing opportunities to enjoy the sport.

What Coal Township has done at AOAA should be the golden standard for public offroad land use. Would love to see more areas of the state embrace that sustainable and mutually beneficial relationship with offroad sports.

Are these routes on a GPS or some other electronic device or avail bile on a printed map? If of the old school variety, I would be interested. Please let me know by pm. Thank you.

Got into Michaux for a bit after supper. I was pleasantly surprised with how clear, and frequently dry, most of the roads are. This weekend most still had a lot of snow. Now, they look like this:

A few spots look like this where the shade lasts all day:

No pics of the worst bit, but I hit a couple hundred yards in a deeply shaded stretch with just narrow, slightly icy, wheel ruts surrounded by a couple inches of crusty snow/ice. That was a bit exciting, but not too bad.
