If anyone is interested in seeing these I can post them. Anyone remember the Track n' Trail shop on South Federal Blvd in Denver. We got a free trip for 2 to Barcelona because Mike was one of the top twenty Bul dealers in the US that year. I recently found photos I took on that trip, I have a few photos inside the Bultaco factory. Here's a photo of me meeting Senor Bulto at the banquet.

In 1977 I lived in Bailey & had a Bultaco. My best friend in High School had a Yamaha.
We used to drive to Denver on Saturday & make the rounds; Rink-A-Dinks, Fay Myers & Track n' Trail.
In 78 I bought a Husqvarna from Bill Thomas

Would love to see the pictures, please!

    Mike Kern, Mike Kern.....
I was very young & self absorbed at that time
Was he a salesman at TnT?
In late 78 early 79? I talked to a salesman about a new Bultaco Streaker
I think I still have his card but I will have to keep digging for it...

Mike Kern was the owner of Track n Trail. Or more accurately, co-owner. His silent partner with the money to back the shop was the guy who owned the Kawasaki dealership. Can't remember his name. Mike did a great business, sponsored all the top MX riders in the state. He had franchises for Bultaco, Hodaka and Montesa. Also bought and sold whatever came in, got traded etc. There would usually be some Husky's, Maico's and/or CZ's in the used bike line-up. Sometimes an old Greeves, BSA or Triumph Scrambler.
But the writing was on the wall for the European marques when Honda brought out the Elsinore. Cheaper, faster and more reliable. It's been gratifying to see KTM rise up and become such a dominant name in the offroad world.

Thank you very much for sharing the pictures & the memories.
I think (IMHO) motocross peaked in the mid-70's with all the different manufactures.
As you said, the writing was on the wall for the European Marques.
The Pursang is gone however I've managed to keep one Bultaco

Glad you enjoyed them. Sure makes me feel old! That's a good looking Matador, with "correct" vintage tank bag.

to this day whenever I drive down that stretch of Federal Blvd my head always looks east to get a glance at the beautiful new Pursang's & Frontera's parked outside of Track n' Trail.
I miss the way things used to be
