First time back on the bike since the beginning of May, Goner was gracious enough to lead me around some singletrack at the Boulders riding area near Lake Pleasant. Today's goal was to start early and be home before the mercury breaks 100 degrees, we were successful on both counts!

The Boulders is a great place to ride. I sure don't why I don't go there more often!

The early morning hour was surprising cool. With the sun rising, the temps were also rapidly rising.

Hmmm, this is the trail we really want. Time to redirect.

I'm thinking, man I hope we don't have to go up that hill in the distance!

Nope, we found some tight (grown in) single track to ride at the bottom of the hill.

    Low clearance.

We ended up in this wash that actually had water in it!!

The wash ends at this waterfall, technically, it's doable.

I don't know what exactly happened, but goner managed to really piss off this swarm of bees. The bees followed him as he ran towards me. He was being stung all over, but his face and ears really go hammered!

I was swatting the bees off him and managed to snap a close up picture of one of the bees.

We had ourselves a real dilemma. The bee hive is somewhere up by the bikes and we're hiding in the shade near the bottom of the waterfall. The plan was to scramble up the waterfall, get the bikes turned around, and race up the trail a ways to regroup. We executed the plan without fault and when we stopped to regroup, goner was again covered with bees, damn! With the bees cleared off, we headed to the previously pictured hill.

    WOW, it was some hill!

After all that ruckus and the heat coming on strong, we made a BEELINE for the trucks.

We rode there around Christmas but didn't see the single tracks. We rode on the ATV trails most of the time and down in the washes.

    Hey Terry,
Good to see you back up and around. The water is what probably had those bees around and when you got in the area they thought you were going to steal their precious desert nector:D
