On today's agenda was to open a trail that probably hadn't been used in over 40 years. Previous expeditions were turned back. Confidence was high with our group to successfully cut and hack our through and enjoy a tasty lunch in Crown King.

    Players today included:

    PHXMAN - KTM 300
Father Goose - Gas Gas 300
    Tony J - Husqvarna 250
    AZT2 - KTM 300
    Steve B - Gas Gas 250
    Calvin B - KX 100
    Nightstalker - Honda 450X

How come I'm still the one on the biggest bike???

Lake Pleasant parking and sunrise/full moon.

The area we parked in was covered in NAILS! Is that an omen or what?

    AZT2 is very happy!

Tony J didn't have an excuse.

The thick brush would grab body parts and rip you right off your bike. Or jam your rear brake pedal and come to a dead stop at the most inopportune time. Tony demonstrates.

We rode as far in as we could, then spent a couple hours trimming about 1/4 mile of trail.

Time to move the bikes down trail.

What seemed wide and flowing while we walked and cut, was narrow with sharp turns on the bikes.

    Father Goose navigates the wedge.

Really, this all looked doable on foot.

    Plenty of room!

    All done, what's next?

    Back to trail cutting.

After another couple of hours of cutting, the trail ended, here.

I wasn't looking forward to riding back up this.

We had to ride uphill through all the stuff we trimmed, and all the stuff we didn't! Father Goose's Gas Gas was overheating.

    Steve popped his chain.

Chain is on. Should be ready to go. Unfortunately, Steve had other problems....

We had to abandon Steve's bike. Rescue efforts commence tomorrow... I donated my 450 for Steve to ride Calvin out, and I rode the KX100.

a couple of snowbirds were just out at Castle Hot springs and ended up on the Cow Creek rd and Upper French Creek. saw some signage to Crown King but never rode it, we had been up there 2 days earlier by going in at Bumble Bee and the easy way. Still it was great scenery . We did cave creek and down to sheep bridge and back out Bloody Basin. The last day was Table Mesa , all good. Thanks for you RR 's as it give us ideas for your great area. Steve

How do you get a bike off the top of a mountain?
