Four hearty adventurers came out today to follow me to the end of some roads, that on the map, go nowhere.

    Glenn - KLR650
    Julio - DRZ400
    Eric - KTM950
    Bob - XR650L
    Terry - KTM950

All my rides start at McDonalds, and this one was no different.

Rattlecan simultaneously rode his motorcycle and towed his motorcycle to our tasty morning meeting spot, HARDCORE!

A few miles up the highway and we hit the dirt.

I prefer going up to going down, but at some point you just run out of up.

Today it ran out in a big way!

Big-E split off for greener pastures. The rest of us continued on course, sort of... Missed a turn and ended up on this trail.

We found our planned route, unfortunately, it was behind a gate with a Private Property, No Trespassing sign on it! Bastards!

    We continued on.

And then we got to this hill...

Bob cleaned all the bad rocks off the hill for us.

    Julio volunteered to go first.

    Glenn went next.

We rolled into Black Canyon City and Bob took off, back to his Harley at McD's. I had two routes loaded up on the GPS to check out, however, BOTH were posted PRIVATE - NO TRESPASSING, am I back on the east coast or what???

I snapped a picture of Thumb Butte before we took off for Table Mesa Road.

Table Mesa Road is a lot of FUN! I love riding it! This was my first time going west to east.

Your pics give a good sense of the steepness of the trails. Nice.

We made great time across Table Mesa Road, and it was a pretty uneventful ride down Seven Springs Road, lots of traffic in both directions, as would be expected on a Saturday early afternoon. Julio was behind me, keeping good time, he dropped out of view so I stopped and waited along the road. After a couple of minutes, I turned back to find Julio and Glenn on the side of the road, this can't be good. Julio's DRZ engine had started making some aweful noises. What to do?? Get the rope!

It was a 13 mile tow back to Carefree. I left Julio and Glenn at the first bar and ran home to get my pickup truck.

The last time I was on Table Mesa Road I had to take a rider home on the back of my truck...

Ah, well you and me XDBX, we gotta get out of Michigan, back to the desert. Trouble is, I have only been during the winter, so of course I think it's just fine. :D
