The heavens opened and dumped 4 inches of rain in the Valley of the Sun this week with feet of snow crippling the high country. Being hydrophobic, I am deathly afraid of water, but I scheduled a ride to survey the carnage in the back country. We found the desert to be much more resilient than the urban sprawl called Phoenix. I posted a ride through mud, deep stream crossings, and mud. I suggested small bikes for this ride and CrashDBad brought his 950 SE, his only bike. Tom P and Nightstalker were riding Honda CRF 450X bikes, perfectly matched for the riding conditions we would find on this day. Of course, we met at McDonald's, and made haste for the Wildcat OHV area in the Cave Creek Ranger District of the Tonto National Forest, only to find this... DOH!! We're only a half mile from the staging area! Plan B, we'll come in from the other end. What a great start to the day!
