Yardstick put together a last minute Prescott National Forest ride this day. I made a recommendation on some stuff I've been looking to ride for over a year now, and the plan came together.

    Same old PNF crew.

    Yardstick - KTM 530
    Slowred - Honda 450x
    Jerry K - KTM 300
    Nightstalker - Honda 450x

Serious riders choose Pirelli MT43 rear tires.

Slowred was losing his license plate, again.

Yardstick found the last one he lost.

We rode familiar trails east of Lynx Lake to take us to some unfamiliar territory.

And here we are at Trail 43.

How about a trail description provided by the Prescott National Forest website?

    RED MOUNTAIN TRAIL #43

From its beginning at the junction with Prospectors Trail #42, Red Mountain Trail #43 descends into a rugged canyon that houses several springs. Steep pitches and rock scrambles provide technical challenge as the trail switchbacks down through pinyon-juniper woodland and chaparral into more heavily-wooded country. Near the springs, the canyon is lush with Gambel oak, Arizona walnut, and some rather large alligator junipers. This is an excellent place to rest in the shade and listen to the sounds of birds flitting from one tree to the next. This trail comes to an end just beyond this oasis at Charcoal Gulch Trail #9419.
This is a multiple-use trail. Please be considerate of other users—slow down and know when to yield the trail. This trail is open to motorcycles. ATVs are prohibited.

I had mapped out trail 43 on google earth. It looked like it would be a one way, total commitment kind of trail.

    This trail was crazy insane!

Reaching the bottom the trail leveled out and we were rewarded with some fun tight zig zagging trail.

We worked our way through a maze of intersections and found ourselves on trail 9405 which was a ton of fun!

Fast jeep roads took us over to the Yankee Doodle trail.

Yankee Doodle has its own set of challenges.

To see you use the word terrifying to describe a trail makes me glad I wasn't there.
