So oldtimertc put together a ride and bailed out 90 minutes before the start with some lame cracked brakeline excuse. :)

    We managed without him...

As I was riding to the Cave Creek Coffee Co meeting point (after stopping at McD's on the way of course) the Phoenix skyline was quickly filling with a typical morning full of hot air balloons. I managed to catch some that were still on the ground.

Arriving at C4 in Cave Creek, I found the regular morning latte riders, and my mates for today's ride.

It was a cold start to this morning, even for Phoenix. As we gained elevation, temperatures dropped further. The creek crossing at Seven Springs campground was slick with ICE.

Most of the route today consisted of graded/bladed ULTRA high speed dirt roads. Not a lot of opportunity for dramatic pictures.

    On Seven Springs Road.

We were regrouping at the Bloody Basin intersection.

Missing a few riders, I returned to investigate. I found ducati125 and kbblue helping Yardstick fix a flat tire.

    Big hole in tube.

Caused by a nail in the rear tire.

    Nail removed.

Leaving Bloody Basin Road, we continued on the Great Western Trail to Dugas. No more graded/bladed, FS677 is a real fun big bike jeep road.

The hardest part of the this section of the GWT is the little downhill just outside of Dugas.

Uneventful SUPER fast riding from Dugas and across Orme School Road until we got to the shortcut. There's a maze of crisscrossing roads and using the GPS as my guide, I missed a turn. I could turn the group around and double back, but we're close enough, we'll bushwack a little.

Couple of more on the way to Mayer.

We gassed up in Mayer and usually, just grab hotdogs and other misc junk food at the C-Store, but today, someone told us we should try the Chuck Wagon. Sounds like the perfect place for an ADV luncheon! As we rode up, the waitstaff was outside waving us in!

Wow, are we going to all fit in here??

The outside is deceptively small looking, inside there was plenty of room!

The special today was buffalo burger and fries for $4.99. We all ordered the special.

They did a great job taking care of us.

If you're ever in Mayer and are looking for something to eat at a very reasonable price, I recommend the Chuckwagon.

The original route took us from Mayer up over Mt Union. At 8000 ft, I wasn't interested in pushing my 520 pound 950 though snow and ice, and apparently, no body else seemed interested either.

kbblue suggested that we take Blue Belle Mine road from Mayer to Cleator, sounds like fun to me. With a little GPS work we found the road and it was AWESOME!!

Not too many pictures, too busy riding, these guys are fast!

Yeah I know, but at least I noticed it before the ride and didnt handicap the group. Sorry to be such a looser.

I won't be posting rides anymore ...takes all the fun out of riding.

Thanks guys for letting me join you. The Tucson ADV guys would like to invite "u's" guys down here to Tucson sometime for a nice route. We will take you through the Catalina's, up to Chiva Falls (site of my broken ankle six weeks ago) down some washes and then a good lunch somewhere.

Special thanks to Nightstalker for making sure I got back to my truck and giving me a few water crossings and some bushwacking. I haven't had much of that since I moved from Indiana.

You were missed brother. We still need to do the Bodie Mine rd when it thaws. If you find out my original brake line will work you are welcome to it.
All in all, this was a good group. Just one flat, no carnage & very little waiting. Fun day!
