5 hardy ADVRiders assembled today to scope out some trails near Black Canyon City, AZ. Da players Rattlecan - KTM 525 DOD - KTM 525 4Play - Honda XR650R Montek - KLR650 Nightstalker - KTM 950 We met at the Walmart in Anthem.
Just kidding.... Rattlecan had a great trail up to Table Mesa Road. I landed my second flat on the 950, first time on the front. Snake bite pinch flat, air pressure dropped quick and I was completely unable to control the bike! Luckily, I got it stopped without incident.
We got the flat repaired in a reasonable amount of time and took off on the trail again. Rattlecan's first crash of the day. Back up and ready to go.
Prepare for nasty downhill descent. Rattlecan is a real PAL!! He was showing us the way NOT to go. We followed that up with another nasty downhill.
I took over the reins and lead the group into the great unknown. It started easy enough. Then we made the long climb into the mountains. Dead end.
We turned back and tried a different branch off the trail. I crashed at the bottom of this hill, just on the other side of the creek, on top of the rocks. Bent up my clutch lever and while we were making repairs, this truck came down the hill! We decided against continuing in that direction and tried a different spur trail. We came up on that truck again. They were in a bit of a quandary... ADVRiders to the rescue! Everyone jumped into the back of the truck and Rattlecan backed us onto the road again.
4Play and I had lost the other 3 members of the group. After waiting a bit at an intersection, we turned back in search of our lost comrads. Montek's KLR footpeg fell off. Rattlecan showing off the footpeg and his bloodspot stained protective gear. Our new found truck friends stopped to see if everything was alright. Everything is well in hand. My 950 decided to take a nap, and fall right into 4Play's 650R.
Back on the trail again. The road was covered with cows!! I nearly ran into them as they scattered in all directions!
Oh, and then... I had a nasty crash. A fair amount of time was spent getting the bike back up on the trail, and then an extended amount of time was spent pulling cactus needles out of my arm and leg. The guys got pictures, so I'm sure you'll see them soon enough. Just about there... We stopped at the famous Rock Springs Cafe for some punch and pie.
