I hooked up with Javalina today and went for a run to Bartlett Lake on the Verde River.

We started at Pima and Dynamite on a pole line road. Uphill!

    KLR mirror wouldn't stay put!

    Great pole line trail.

I was trying to talk Javalina into letting me take that lightweight 650 for a ride, but he said I couldn't handle it.

We were riding down Camp Creek when we got buzzed by these two planes. I managed to catch one on [digital] film.

    Verde River.

I went for a little spin to rocky island.

It was real rocky down by the river.

We thought about crossing the Verde, but it was full of greasy slimey rocks. I think that Dirtydog, Cyberdos, and Glenn know all about those rocks.

I tried to talk Javalina in to riding through this mud puddle, but he wouldn't bite.

Heading back out the way we came, we diverted on to a side trail. I had just crashed at this turn and moved my bike up the trail a bit to get some action shots of Javalina. Turned into a great crash sequence.

The trail followed the wash for a ways and then climbed up a nasty rocky hill to this DEAD END!

We rode back to Camp Creek and hopped the next wash, which did take us all the way to Barlett Dam Road.

Apparently, this is a one way trail.

Bartlett Lake Convenience Store. We stopped for some snacky cakes and cheesey poofs.

    Bartlett Dam.

    Damn trail.

We explored south of the Dam only to find closed gates and private property.

So, we headed north to Bartlett Flats.

And again, all we found were no motorized vehicle signs on anything that looked like a trail.

We turned back to Bartlett Dam Road.

We took a trail off Barlett Dam Road that dead ended after about 1/2 mile. I caught Javalina playing in the mud on the way back out.

Back on the paved road again, I pulled over for a photo op. I must have been psychic because Javalina locked up his rear tire and came to a screeching halt down the road stopping just aside of me. He forgot to put his camelback back on after clearing the mud from his goggles. It found it's way into his rear sprocket and completely locked up the tire!

    Camelback removed.

Once again we popped off Bartlett Dam Road, this time on to FS404. It sounded promising, it has a carbonite trail sign with a number and it also had an adopt a trial sticker on it from some jeep club! The trail had some challenging sections (well, besides the sand).

    Challenging even for Nightstalker.

The trail went on for miles! Low clearance section.

The rocks were a welcome relief.

    Spotted a deer!

And then the trail ENDED! No [expletive deleted] way!

You could probably get a trails bike through here, maybe.

    Returning in disgust.

We rode like stink to get back out of there. It was getting late, cold, and dark!

We made it out alive and hi-tailed it back to civilization.

Javalina catching me on I-17 heading into Phoenix.

This car passes me and it's loaded with SNOW. ????? This is Phoenix Arizona right?

I did about 160 miles total today. Probably about 90 miles off road. It's been a long time since I picked up my 950 that many times in one day!

    Nice!

One of those rocky hills down by the Verde will take you to the powerlines and back to Pima. That's the one JD and I did.

It was a lot of fun. My bike did start feeling heavy at the end of the day though. Must have been the extra mud.

A few sore muscles, but I am ready to ride again.:clap
