Looking to ride Sunday May 4th.

If you have something in mind, I'm all over that.

Otherwise, I was checking out some stuff on the map in the Globe area. The map doesn't say if it's easy or hard (like it would), but I'm more than willing to turn back on anything that scares you (or me). Meet somewhere in east Mesa or AJ at around the 8 o'clock hour.

Unfortunately, I just had my gallbladder removed on Wednesday, or I'd be up for a ride. I don't think the doc would be pleased to hear I ripped out the staples on a adventure ride!

I'm sure there will be one of your quality ride reports to follow! :clap

HAve fun, and think about your fellow invalid Advriders while you're out there!

Terry, you might try the road thru Pioneer Pass. There's a nice old WPA/CCC era campground at the top, then the road gets pretty gnarly as you head South. You can hook up with a road that brings you out to the highway to the East, or around the back side of the Pinals.

I am not near my maps or I could be more specific, but the Tonto NF map gives you the skinny. The ride starts from Ice House Canyon rd in Globe proper, turning onto Kellner Canyon road and out to the dirt.

The road past Pioneer Pass is tough in the best of times, and changes frequently as weather and runoff take their toll. If you take it, bring a buddy and lots of water/survival gear. THere are cell towers on Pinal Peak, but ..

I am heading up to rim road between 87 and 260. Down into young and maybe, if I feel up to it, cherry creek road heading south. Thinking of returning to PHX via the a-cross road behind Roosevelt and then 4 peaks el Oso road to 87. Depending on how I feel as I go.

Actually I moved it up a day to Sat departure.

I hope to make it a 2 nighter. I am leaving tomorrow at 530am to 8am. Depending on how far I can get packed up here. I dont get much time to do longer trips to taking advantage while I can.

That's real tempting, but I'm still picking the scabs off my arm from that ride. I'm looking to head east this round.

Don't worry though, I got some stuff in mind on the west side I think you'd really like. I'll let you know once I get something put together.

Excel double label rim from Woodys and getting the, laced/trued at Moto House in Phoenix. To do it again, I wold just send it to Woody's, but we seemed to have a hard time communicating for some reason. The rim was harder to find than I thought it would be (1.85). Should be ready Saturday.

Sounds good, breakfast in Superior or Globe? Headed to Grand Canyon this morning to get a NP stamp, will check when I get home in case any changes.

I'm in as a newbie if you guys don't mind (feel pretty confident with the riding, it's the breaking down part I'm not comfortable with). That is, if you orangemen don't mind some Suzuki blue (DR650) taggin' along. See you all at McD's at 8!

Here's the ride I had in mind.

Eat breakfast at McD's. Get there a little early if you want to eat. We'll leave there 8:15-8:30.

Head east on 60 to Florence Junction. Then, just east of there, I'd like to run the Montana Mountain loop. It's rated easy to moderate on my trail guide. If it gets hairy, we can turn back to the highway.

If that works out, that should put us in Globe for lunch. We can return via Apache Trial or 4 Peaks. 4 Peaks is easy, and Apache Trail is really easy.

    Sounds like fun!
