Seems there is going to be a Hybrid MP3 out at the end of 2009. There is talk of 140MPG....
Yeah, the cool thing is it can be used electric only and plug in to recharge. Only turn on the hybrid mode when you want more zoom or the charge runs low.
Very clever. I hope it's a success.
Has anyone upgraded the horn on the MP3 yet? Guy here at work has one & I was telling him about the Strieble (sp?) air horn, but I'm not sure if there is a place to mount it...
Does anyone know a good link for recent information? My search seems to turn up mostly stories from 07, and the photos don't quite match the one posted by Paul.
Stebel air horn. Dunno about mounting.
All i have is the '07 stuff. I should imagine we'll see more at the Italian bike shows this winter.
Interesting. If the plan is to have it out in 09, you'd think there'd be more recent info. I guess we'll just have to keep the eyes and ears open.
09 should be an interesting year.
Bought a MP3 250(2007)about 3-4 month ago, haven´t get instructionbooks yet from the dealer.
How do the oilcheck. wipe and then screw or just stick it back before checking?
Pull it out, wipe it, put it in but DON'T screw it down. Pull it out and read.
Does anyone have specs on the capacity of the generator? I am thinking about hooking up a heated vest, and heated grips in addition to the heated skirting.
Any real-world experience in winter riding would be appreciated.
180 watt max on the under seat outlet.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Mike: I do some winterriding.
Important is to keep some parts warm. For me is hands, feet, face and neck.
I use heated grips, handprotection, electric visor, helmetwarmer and also handgrips in my shoes
Sometines it´s over minus 30 degrees celsius. Rest of the clothes is ordinary motocyclingclothes. They give good protection from the wind.
Some pics, sorry for the swedish text, but maybe the pics give a hint?
Sebringsystem for the MP3
I noticed that there are a Leo Vince for the MP3, but sometimes it´s more fun to make things....
Found a left side Sebring slipon from a KTM. W´ll see at summer if the sound is to noicy(110 kms/h is about 7000 rpm)
More pics and also a soundcheck of it:
I've seen the number 40 as watts to burn after the bike is running.....
Bump so I can find it easily again.
Look closely and you will see the Old Bastard in full MP3-500 lust.
lev-wife (aka "3wheelfun") and I just returned from an 800 mile trip to Sequoia and Kings Canyon Nat'l Parks. She had a blast on her MP3.
More pics in this short report.
Well, Mrs. Levity is now on her 3rd MP3!
first it was a black 250
then a blue 400
and now a red 500
you can guess what will happen if Piaggio makes a pink 650!
Can I ask why she moved from the 400 to the 500? Would be very interested in her reasons, and thoughts of the pros & cons between the two. Thanks!
Honestly not really sure why I moved to the 500. Just wanted something different?? The 500 looks better next to hubbies R1200GS??? Really just wanted as much power as possible, and if they come out with the 850 (the mana engine) in the MP3 I will probably be all over that.
That said the 400 is a fantastic scooter!
Advantages of the 400:
1. Much better wind management than the 500. The Fabbri windshield on the 400 is amazing. No wind on hands or torso.
2. Seat is much better on the 400. Flatter (no front sloping), more support.
3. STORAGE! The 400 has a built in top box (the pet carrier). All storage is locked, waterproof, and remote controlled operated. The 500 does not come close.
4. The 400 has a longer reach to the handlebars. For anyone over 5'10" I would say the 400 is a much better fit. The 500 is very cramped.
Disadvantage of the 400
1. Power compared to the 500. Only a little difference but when doing the double yellow passing in the curves, I need all the power I can get.
2. With all that storage you end up carrying everyones crap!
Really between the 2 scoots get which ever one sparks your interest. Luckily we live in So. Cal. and used ones come up frequently, so I just thought I would try the 500. I love these scoots. I have had bikes for about 12 years (all kinds) and never really rode much. Bought my first MP3 Oct 08 just to try it out, and now have more than 15,000 miles on them by now.
The biggest disadvantage of these scoots is all the interest they draw. Seems that I cannot stop for gas without being questioned about it. One guy even wanted to video tape me riding it, kind of creepy.
