Thanks for the info! I'll be going with option 1. Be sure to post pics of your Woody built wheels :thumb

Is it possible to use monster spokes for the X Challenge wheels?

Yeah, thanks. I haven't heard from Chris, but sounds like option #1 for me too.

I still have time so maybe things will change... Sometimes I wish I had forgone the ABS option :D

hey guys ,,,we only use the MONZTER spokes on x-laced oem tubeless wheel conversions,,,this is a super tuff/simple way of solving the probem imposed by BMW drilling the hubs for their nipples,,,,,

i can build you supertuff wheels using either the oem hubs or the aftermarket stuff,,,,

FYI,,,,this afternoon i figured out how to adapt KTM RAD hubs to work on your 650 X challenge,,,sweeeeet,,,can keep your ABS,,,,your OEM brakes,,,bolt on ,,,,slip in and voila,,BLING,,,BLING BLING,,,,plus STRRRREEEEENNNNGGGTTTTTHHHHHH.:thumb

i'm working on that,,,,for simplicities sake,,,the plain machined hub is highly shiny looking and when clear anodized,,the finish looks like the oem x-laced rims,,,,

the other version,,,,i bead blast first,,,and then clear anodize,,,,this results in a satin grey finish that looks akin to the finest sandcasting objects found on vintage machinery ....kinda of reminds me of all the race stuff that HRC put out for honda's race machnery....stunning in a very technically savy sort of way,,,

FYI,,these are 6061-T6 billet hubs,,,don't want to powdercoat them at 375F

    woody! awsome job!
50% the weight, less $$$ then oem.
that, in my book, qualifies as :deal
can you make a complete set- f&r for a super tenere?
will i be able to retain the stock berings and speedo drive?

oh boy,,,,those are all the goals i'm shooting for,,,,and the objects in question are for the bmw late model R1200GS series,,,

i have buildt trick stuff for lot's of folks over the past 34 years,,,,only in quantities does the cost go down,,,,otherwise the onesy and twosy stuff just gets expensive,,,:cry:cry:cry

regarding your super tenere,,,haven't had a chance to work on one YET...

3lbs lighter than your stock HP-2:super

FYI we are comparing apples and oranges ,,remember the oem wheel is a 2.50 x17'' and i'm giving you a 2.50x18'',,,,otherwise the new wheel would be even lighter with a 2.50x17'' Excel laced to it...!!!!

i've tried several times now ,,but the pics do not translate what IS....

FYI,,both are clear anodized ,,,the one is anodized as is ,,,beautiful machining evident through-out,,,,the other we beadblasted and it of course has a satin finish,,,no machine marks,,,and when anodized has this stunning light grey look from factory cast racing components,,,,ya know the kind where they use super fine sand versus the coarse stuff.....

that's as close to a visualization i can give ya:thumb
