I just finished reading an old article about the worst MX bikes a guy had tested, and the VOR/Vertemati V495 was among them.

I very nearly bought a 400/450 (I forget which) with a stuffed crank (I think), then I did some research and found they all had that problem, and that part was now unobtainable, but I was still going to get it, make it look pretty and just look at it in the shed (and probably sit on it and make broom broom noises), but someone else beat me to it.

It did turn up for sale again but in pieces after the new buyer couldn't find the parts he needed.

Apparently the 530(?) was solid and parts were still able to be found though.

Edit to add a pic from the article.

I have a 2001 VOR 503 like in the pic I posted above the main problem was over revving with no limiter they where good on the dirt but the motard guys used to consistently flog them blowing the cranks. The press never liked them because there European and have there problems but they where hand built master pieces to some.
The strange thing they can be pulled down packed in two suit cases and taken anywhere like a big lego toy.

Most VOR's, like SXV's are sitting in 2 boxes in sheds all over the world:nod

Only had experience with one brand new 503(?) on a desert ride I was leading back in early 2000's.

Ol' mate owner(big bloke, big ego) talked it up big, dissin' the Bergs (they weren't having a good run back then) and there were a few on the ride.
He was gunna blow my Berg away on the drag comp we used to have on the Sunday after the day 2 loop.

The thing went harder than my '00 501, but didn't get through first day - blown crank:(:
I told him to leave the peice of shit in the desert where it belongs - nearly ended in fisty-cuffs.
$15k was a lot of money back in then.

OUT of 60+ bikes it was the only bike that failed, fixed a couple of snapped chains and a few riders didn't make it tho (and 2 4x4's rolled - too much piss)
Didn't win the drag race, 2nd as per every year. Beaten by a '03 Berg 501 (which blew-up shortly after.:cry)

    Haven't seen one since.:dunno

I saw a 530 at this year's Killarney trail ride.
