Pictures of motorbikes with a Boxer engine, but not BMWs

    Sheesh...I see it now, buried in there. I was looking at the vertical carb. Thanks alcohol. Kind of a stupid design, though.

    Sorry but that's a dumb example. VWs motor is an opposed 4 that is not going directly into the transmission. As is BMW, Ural, Subaru, etc. Basically ALL boxer motors...hence this thread.

    Looks like an opposed four to me, this example appears to be vertically mounted in a boat.

    Does your cherry picked example somehow prove that it's not a dumb design? I don't see a transmission behind that cylinder.

    Look at post #39. It is a Norton gearbox mounted at an angle behind the rear cylinders.
    The "cherry picked" exampled was a boat engine. The M/C motors had the spark plugs
    at an angle to clear the gearbox for easy removal.

    Yeah, not ''cherry picked'', it was an outboard engine. Also a ''big bang'' 2 stroke, not by choice, it has to be by design.
