The DRZ is well known for having a parasitic draw on the battery. I believe it comes from the display clock. If it sits more then 2 weeks (in colder weather) you may be in trouble. A trickle charger will become your best friend.., or ride every couple days.

BTW, if you have not done it already, you will want to disable the kickstand safety switch.

I had a 2000 DR-Z and I used to buy a new battery every year until I learned to disconnect the battery in warm weather if I knew I wasn't going to ride the bike for a week. In cold weather I would take the battery out and put it in my house. Became a little bit of a PITA, but I used to do it so much I could remove the battery in less than a minute.:lol2 Other than that issue the bike was extremely reliable. Never left me stranded. Can't believe the issue still persists.

Was a beautiful day for an 80 mile, 4 hour ride in the 100 acre wood with Glade. 65 degrees and not a cloud in the sky (well, little wisps:-)). Wharton, BB, etc. Only disappointment was that Hot Diggity was closed!
Here's a legal photo of Pakim Pond with Glade's new Husqvarna 701 Enduro. He was jealous of my Husky!:-)

Hey Doc, my new Husky tears up the lawn nearly as well as yours so I'm glad you encouraged me to get it.
