Yes, the right laws can protect us from the lawyers, but that is more “govment”, right?
In fact ski states passed laws a number of years ago to stop all the lawsuits from ski injuries. Buy a lift ticket, ski, and assume the risk. That saved that industry.

It's the same for the Equine industry in NJ. Step foot onto an equine facility, farm, arena, training/show ring and you assume all responsibilities and can not sue the owner. They have to post this but it is at your risk. I think most people understand the risks inherent in these different hobbies and accept that it's on them for the most part. The actions of angry people certainly can add unforeseen risks both on road and off road.

Ski and Equine are great examples and I don't think people should be able to sue property owners for BS claims like tripping on cracked concrete or not completely ridding the sidewalk of snow and ice. There's a certain amount of bottom line responsibility we must take for ourselves.

HOWEVER - placing something like a thin chain or rope that might be hard to see across an otherwise potentially unclear property boundary or trail at a height where it could kill an unsuspecting motorcyclist is another level. The cyclist obviously shares some portion of the responsibility for trespass but so does the property owner.

At least that's how I see it.

I agree but I think whoever put up that cable is 100%
Responsible. Trespassing is not a crime it a disorderly offense.

I’m trying to find out but I think some are cautious of posting for fear of messing up court case.

I've got no problem with a cable at the proper height with ribbons on it. This sounds fishy. If a horse hit it and had to be put down it would be national news.

Cable should never be used. They can put up a wooden gate instead or a mound of dirt. A cable is always going to end with disaster. But your
Right this should e national news

It's a crappy thing to do... Could of killed that kid over trespassing.. granted in some states you can be shot for it.... But still definitely much more reasonable ways to handle it.. as a hunter I deal with off roaders in the public land area I hunt alot if I can I kindly explain where I am when I'll be in that area and ask them to avoid it, most the time they say no problem , some a Dick's but better then death or causing serious injuries

Well this has sure been a buzz kill the last 2 -3 pages...

I was looking forward to getting back up there this year but now second guessing my decision after all of this discouraging coverage of the pine barrens..

As a new rider, I wanted to add a bit more protection to the bike - I think I'm ready for the season
Not sure how comfortable it will be in the summer, may have to add AC
