Meet at the ranger station and kickstands up by 8:30? I'd like to get an earlier start since we might get rain later in the day.

I have the KLR still, but I also have a DRZ400. When we figure out our plans we’ll post something up

Well, that's why you have a big twin that can effortlessly do some road on the way to the dirt!:-)
Regardless, if it snows on Saturday night, and they lay down more salt, the plans will change. I will then probably trailer the little bike down to Atsion.

Sunday big bike ride is canceled because of the snow, rain and anticipated salt application to the roads.

Are you fellows still doing Monday at Atsion? Have you decided on a time?

Right now I’m planning on being at Atsion around 9 AM Monday, weather permitting. We’ll see what the forecast is doing Sunday night.

Think the snow will be gone by tomorrow morning?
Today, I did some "cross-training" at Blue. Did you know that skiing deep powder is like riding deep sand? Similar technique!

So, we doing Atsion tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.?
How about 9:00 a.m. to meet, with kick-stands up at 9:30? No rain in the forecast for tomorrow.

Gives me a little extra time to negotiate Monday morning traffic (not everyone is off!).
Anyone gonna bring a big bike, or are we sticking with the thumpers?

    Hey neighbors.

I'm about 8 miles from the Atison ranger station. And though I've ridden most of the paved roads through Wharton I've got all street bikes so I've only driven the dirt.

As a matter of fact the family and I had lunch today at Hawkins Bridge.

PS, let me add, that I'm not only so close, but I've got a Jeep JKU (Wrangler Unlimited) and a trailer, and a decent garage/shop. So if anyone ever needs a rescue you should hit me up.

We stayed in the camp loop back there..at Godfrey bridge.
It was hard to get in there with our 4wd rv due to over hanging trees..
Is it cleared up now since they clear cut that main strip back there.. the off road rv is 12'tall at the highest point.. I was clear up to the bridge but got tight between there and the ent to the loop.

We came in from Carranza Rd and I think maybe there was only one branch I noticed that would be an issue as you get close to Hawkins Bridge. But I was in the JKU and not thinking about a 12' RV so there could be more.

We didn't go south or east of there so I can't say between there and Godfrey.

And I don't know about Washington Tpke. I know they cleared the big firebreak on either side of it, but I haven't been down it since. I thought it was closed/restricted for now and didn't look into it.

I keep meaning to check with the ranger station to figure out what's technically closed now. I think there were some roads off Carranza that are off limits right now too.

I just moved here 3 years ago and I'm a noob to the forest still.
