Sure looks like the engine from the CSC 250 Adv bike thats thumpin all over the USA with happy, if frugal, customers. Pitster has a few vids with their tester dropping off ledges and turning some MX laps. It isnt slow LOOKING and the suspension isnt crashing thru the stroke like one might expect from a cheap bike. EDIT, Index for specific info. Send me a title and link and I can pop it in here. =============================================================== Parts from other bikes for the LXR250f BAD INFO Clutch friction plates, BAD INFO! Everything but the motor looks like a KTM copy, it definitely looks better then the typical China bike. I suspect it's only a matter of time before they start cutting into everyone else's sales. Too bad they are so big on copying what someone else has already made, that being said it's definitely an improvement over their typical styling, RX3 excluded.
It is a nice looking bike! The Pisterpro website isn't very confidence inspiring though. No solid information other than what was copied above. No engine mfg identified, nor suspension maker, or mention of parts availability. So you go riding and find the fork seals have blown out, how long a wait until you can get replacements in hand? Bearings for the swingarm and links, are they stock sizes we can source anywhere or are they unobtanium? Is the shock rebuildable or not? Fork springs, are they standard size so they can be easily changed for proper setup if we aren't in the "typical" weight range? Sprockets? ECU? Radiator? If we had a local dealer who actually stocked commonly used parts I would check it out as a low cost play dirt bike. That is something we need, for those of us who aren't racing and don't want to pay for the latest racing bike. It might be a serious contender in comparison to a used dirt bike of similar price if the engine has a more reasonable service schedule than the mx bikes. Since the price of used race bikes drops about 50% in 3 or so years, I would prefer a new bike for the same money if it holds up. A used race bike for the same money generally needs an engine rebuild as well as suspension at both ends rebuilt. I cheer the little guys, the new guys, the up and coming small companies, but I hate the unsupported products that are so common from China. You buy it, you like it until it breaks, then you can't ever get parts to fix it and it eventually ends up in a garage sale for $100
I hate to say it but that’s exactly what I want right now. Low cost, low weight, 6 speed and FI. Nice. Still scared though.
That is a Zongshen RX3 engine so that is a plus in the reliability department....HP figures are for sure inflated as its running the same compression And Delphi FI....as the 25 hp RX3
Why would they bother making this bike and not make a serious attempt at selling them? A pitster pro rep could post in this thread, answer questions, provide details, and satisfy the demand that's clearly here. I want this bike; I'd pull the trigger on this over the CRF250L or Rally because of weight alone. What do you all think about the Carb version from Pitster for only 2500 bucks: http://shop.pitsterpro.com/xtr250sc.aspx
Basically the mail in out of state SD trick. Pretty much how all dirt bikes are registered here in FL. Never done it and wouldn't want to try on a new bike.
No, that means PitsterPro is not on the NJ list of approved motorcycles. Neither is Hodaka who made several street legal bikes but no longer exist, so cant comply with NJ law (which, typical of NJ law, SUCKS!).
Just buy the damned Beta 125 already, splurge on a big bore kit, get bored with it and sell it on to your Maryland Internet buddy on your way to Joisey.
