Planned a solo trip west and ended up riding the TAT

After my 2017 TAT Run ended in Green River,
I had two options. Quit the TAT, make preparation for the return trip I had planned out that includes the NW Passage out of Seattle and the northern part of the CDR or
Continue on my own, taking risks that makes it not so smart on my part.
But I'm willing to try anything at least once. You only live once.
Some of you may know what happened from my other thread 2017 TAT, "Ride Smarter Not Harder" which ended like a bad divorce story we all know about.
I tried to make the rest of the trail solo and soon everything went downhill...

Once I got to Green River, there is a short loop in the shape of a horseshoe off of the highway- County Rd 1010.
It starts off nice and easy:
    Excellent scenery.
Then a little sandy, and wiggly, until your front wheel is buried deep in sand.
After my first drop, I managed to get the bike up in the sand and rode on hoping for the best.
    But it got worse:
By then I had no desire to lift the bike as I knew there was no way I could ride back 33 miles to GR nor go forward not knowing what is ahead.
    Dead end.
I used my Spot for extraction.
The Calvary came prepared with a 4x4 to boot.

At this point I conclude I'm no longer riding smart but taking too much risk to accomplish what?
I know many on this forum can ride this one out. Although I'd love to have been able to watch one do it, on a big bike or small.
After getting bike dropped at the super 8 in GR, I'm exhausted but glad nothing is damaged except the RHS BC pannier.

All you need is a Scotts steering damper cranked down and to twist the right handle.
I rode the TAT solo in '14. It does get lonely out West!

Good not just me. Out in the thick of it, McDermitt, there is nothing out here.

Sad to see the trip end. Wish I could have meet up and had a beer

This is the question I've asked myself on a daily basis after the Green River where
    my 2017 TAT run ended.
My answer was to move to higher ground to improve on riding weather, so the
destination was Fruitland where I've heard you can camp in cooler weather.
So it was. My desire was to get on the IDBDR and ride some of it before heading out
to Seattle. But checking on the BDR website, the trail looked to be worthless with the
fires having closed most of it. Later, found out even I 84 was closed.
Fortunately, I was able to make it thru without a blockage or traffic.

Lol, technically I was. Just didn't process the paperwork.
But honestly, that sign was not even noticed since I usually check the paint on the spot.

I guess you didn't see the blue square painted on the ground, with your bike parked on it.

    Fast forward about 2 years.
Since then, the TAT left unfinished, was hanging over me like a giant cobweb that needed to be cleaned out.
The following is an accounting of events/highlites in memory, not a day to day diary.
    .
Eager to head out West again, I signed up for a Rally:
    Destination: Gunnison, CO
Event: RMAR Africa Twin Rally 2019
I signed up early (August 2018) and counted down the days for this event.
The decision to be made was how to get there from Hotlanta.
Toyed with the idea of riding the TAT solo but with Hurricane Barry dumping rain on most of it(eastern half), the option of revisiting the TAT became less desirable.
So, I decided to just leave early enough to give me enough time to take a leisurely road trip with some offroad sections as they may come up to keep my AT happy.
No planned routes or itinerary; it was just going to be a road trip to the Rally :(
But stay tuned, as this road trip turned into an adventure and I ended up finishing the TAT where I left off and with some great inmates I met along the trail.

I'll cut to the end so there is no mystery of why I am reviving this old thread of mine-
Started my TAT ride report in 2017,
    things got weird; report gets modded(locked); I start a new report(this one); lost interest; stuff happens;
and that brings us to this-
a revival of a failed ride report to bring closure to what I started :).
    .
I completed my quest of riding the TAT to the finish (my first 'Epic' US adventure), with the help and good company of these fellas:
