Or did I.... yes, I definitely did. Looks cool though.
I started on rides like this one so I feel like I have a bit of an obligation to pay it back at least a little bit and help others see parts of AZ they would otherwise miss.. even if it takes 5 hours to cover 25 miles of flat dirt in and out
Testing my new GoPro Hero 7 with Hypersmooth on a dirtbike... the 6 was a major step up but it still sometimes got out of sync and the video was somewhat jerky e.g. when you looked around, looks like they tuned all that out now.. I think this is good enough to not have to worry about a gimbal..
That looked pretty good.
Is it just me or are those trails a lot more rutted than usual?
Yep, still some damage from the rains..
As is our annual tradition, we headed up to the mountains south of Superior to honor those no longer with us...
Do you have any additional footage of passing that douchebag on the side by side? I have no idea why he was pissed at us but he was shouting at all of us while we passed.
I wasn't recording that section but I don't think anyone got within 10ft of him... he should have been more concerned about the squid on the quad rolling up and down those ledges with no helmet on..
Nice @Plawa! What happened to the guy/girl with the bent sprocket, did they make it back?
Like how you worked in the drone footage, bet all the folks who attended that ride really appreciate the effort. At least they should appreciate the effort of making the video.
Well done man
Sweet video and looks like a stellar ride @Plawa! Some of those hill climbs are no joke, especially if they're as loose as they looked in the vid
Is that white adv helmet a memorial for someone? Sad if so.
I like that rocky, technical stuff - looks like a blast to ride. Good to hear a couple 2-smokers in the video too; love my little Gas Gas 2T.
Thanks for putting it together, was fun to watch
It is a memorial to Don aka SeaBee1 - more info about the history of the ride here:
The smoke machine in most of the shots is the legendary @cyberdos himself.. a 2-stroke is a perfect fit for him, it always sounds like he's really hauling ass even when I'm right behind him barely above idle
In case you were wondering, hills are way easier when you stay in gear.
LOL...have done that too many times to remember. Glad you didn't slide all the way back that climb. Did you have to start from the bottom and re-do the entire thing, or could you get enough momentum to start from where you were lying down (lol)?
No way you could get moving again with how steep and loose it was... that ride ended somewhat unceremoniously when I broke my footpeg, I did make a video out of it but I commented the whole thing in Czech since now is the perfect time to piss off people back home with videos of perfect riding conditions and sunny skies while they're all knee deep in snow..
I might eventually slap subtitles on it and make it public but it's fairly self-explanatory - skip to 3:05 for the hillclimb, at 4:45 you can see how steep it is.. 5:06 - see how he can barely stand up..
Photo diary... Headed out to Oak Flats today to see people who actually know what they're doing...

That looks like a fantastic riding area @Plawa, nice flowing stuff for a while and then technical pieces with hill climbs thrown in for good measure. It's a good thing you didn't go launching off that point on the 3rd climb attempt...don't think that side-by-side would have felt good . Pretty cool to hear you commentate in Czech as you're riding along; even if I don't have a clue as to what's being said...lol.
The video stability is incredible, are you using the new Go Pro 7? I can't believe how smooth it is, makes me want to dump my current GP
Damn! Wish I had 1/10th of the balance & skills to do stuff like that. Great captures man, looks like a sweet event.
Did this guy land this launch? Holy $@#%
That's Josh Roper, he just won the National Expert class... so yes, he did land it. Damn kids.
Yea the commentary at that point is "That was close"
Yep, Hero 7.. The stabilization on 6 was a big step forward but the 7 really brings it home, they got rid of some the sudden jerks that you sometimes got with the 6 and now it's really smooth. It's funny how the DJI fanboys were all going "RIP gopro" when they launched the Osmo Pocket (tiny gimbal) but the way I use it, I absolutely don't miss mounting a gimbal on my helmet.. not that it would stay there for too long anyway..
