It's time again to go to the Reyes Creek Campground for our annual Polar Ride and unwind from Thanksgiving stress's and get ready for the next round of whatever comes next. Come up for a night or two if you have sufficient gear and courage. :vardy :amazon

Unfortunately, due to because, there will be no shirts, stickers or any other such resource wasting :topes again this year. Also, lists, we don't need no stinking lists. :freaky

    The address:
    Reyes Creek Campground
    26905 Camp Scheideck Rd
    Maricopa, CA 93252

    A website link: https://campone.com/campground-finder/campground/california/reyes-creek-campground/

We will be in the first sites entering the campground in this area. (there may be more growth now as this is an old pic)

Why is it called the Polar Ride? Clues could be that a couple times it has been in the low 30's at night, occasionally it has been in the 20's and commonly it dips into the teens at night. These could all be reasons.

Another reason it is called The Polar Ride is it is a motorcycle event. :ricky As in show up on two wheels. Occasionally exceptions can be made, but you will no doubt be harassed and ridiculed for the choice... except for the Bringer Of The Wood (if rain and the stars align to allow fire). He must be revered and kept lubricated at all times. Who that is will sort itself out in the next few weeks.

This a Farm Rules style event, as in show up take care of yourself and your needs. If you are having trouble with your tent just know that you will be our entertainment. Fuck politically correct, 'tis the season. :beer

One saving grace is having the historic Reyes Creek Bar and Grille with in walking distance. If the cold, hunger, thirst (or you just want to play a game of pool) get the better of you and you need a reprieve. And in the morning it's a good place to shake off the morning chill and fill the belly.

Riding in the area? Yes there is. Both on and off pavement. More on that later.

This gathering is not for the faint of heart and has been known to leave carcasses strewn about at the end of the week end. Show up with a resilient liver. :deal

I am looking forward to this and to see who is bold enough to show. :ricky :dukegirl :kumbaya:freaky

    What say you?

    A requote from last year.

There also is Quatal Canyon Rd that can make a nice loop that includes some fun asphalt.

And Sierra Mardre Rd that would also make an enjoyable loop.

Both of these would take you near some good eats.

And there is always the Carrizo Plain area or Ballinger Canyon.

    Anyone else have some suggestions.

@richard cabesa .. if you should decide to grace us with your presence...let’s do “the hike” again on Saturday, and see if we can push our distance out a little farther yet. Or, not, and we can get lit up Friday night and just do 5 or 6 miles

Ooh, night hike! I'll add boots to my gear list. Too bad it won't be a full moon.

No. Bad. no. No night hiking. Night is for drinking. The hike will be Saturday. If we drink too much Friday night, then we don’t get up early enough to do an extended jaunt on Saturday and will keep it to 5 or 6 miles. . But bring your boots and a backpack with trail shit if you want to go.

Don't know how healed up I'll be by then but a hike sounds good, but lit up is sounding really good right now. :drink
