So... after post #54 above, I emailed the PR person at the ONF asking if FS 2441 was still closed, where can I find why on the ONF website.

I guess the links to some of the Forest Orders (official stuff) are found here. Never had seen that before because I use the ONF Road Reports page for my info, and the links for the Maple Fire road closure take you to the original closure order that was supposed to be lifted on 31 OCT 18. :rofl:rofl

F'ing Order 06-09-20-06 says that the Maple Fire closed roads are still closed for: "Access to the area needs be restricted to provide for the safety and welfare of the general public until identified post-fire hazards are mitigated." the PR person said that "it was extended to July 3, 2020 in order to finalize danger tree removal."

I would have thought that would have been done prior to the 14 MAY closure lifting, but I guess it is our tax dollars at work...:rofl

Had asked about brushing out FS 2464 since it is closed awhile back, and putting a new fish passage culvert in at the Fulton Creek washout on FS 2510 ... they say their budget is limited for brushing out the less traveled roads, and no plan to get FS 2510 open again...

I mentioned that they were affecting my outdoor experience in the National Forest because FS 2510, IMO, is one of the great roads in the ONF.

I am sure that they are quaking in their boots... :D:(

I wish I could find the quote but one of the guys in charge of roads for the ONF was quoted as saying that if there is not a product being extracted or access to identifiable recreation then a road does not belong there. When I was in Alaska one of the criteria for establishing regulations for new parks was "traditional use" and because of that I could fly my airplane into any national park up there and carry a gun in national parks. For as much as people talk about riding the OP I really have not met that many riders in the back country. Primarily the traffic is small suv's going to the trailheads and an occasional 4x4. Log trucks if you ignored the sign. I've always gone for the empty places so it's pretty much the opposite to try to encourage riders into the hills. But it's much more pleasant to meet motorcycles in the hills than cars or the big guys. So maybe we could make an online guidebook, list the tracks, put up gps and kml files and pics. Then when Mr. Fabricator is standing there with his hat in his hand, pointing out errors in public governance, he could make reference to the horde of crazed adv riders out there singing the Alice's Restaurant Massacree in three part harmony. The government is pretty obsessed with ratings lately.

What a set-up. I was innocently examining my alternatives for anti-social distancing ( I always thought that 6 feet was more or less point blank ) Some idgit went and dumped this in the middle of FR 2922

So headed back down since I was not feeling too rambunctious. That's when I knew it was a set-up.

Gotdammt idgit no-account black bears. I could hear them giggling and snorting and poking each other in the ribs. That pile was not there on the way up 15 minutes before.

    Assholes.

Business has been slow (read nonexistent) and I am not able to just sit still. If anyone is interested in someone to ride with, I wouldn't mind the company. Just let me know where to meet. Planning on doing the WABDR in July. Anyway, plenty of places to leave tracks in this state so if you got the time, let's all get out and ride. 7633C3A2-8B5C-4DA2-BAD2-E6EECEB32F8C.jpeg

South end report - despite what the ONF Road Report webpage shows, FS 2419 and 2464 are no longer closed. Someone 'displaced' the middle ecology block and cable at the top of the FS 2441 fire closure to allow easy passage, so another inmate and I had to investigate. No 'post-fire hazards' identified down past the Elk Lakes, but there is active logging along a good section of FS 2480 north/west of the intersection with the 2441. The fire burned right down to the road along there, and they are salvaging the timber they can on the uphill side, along with removing the trees that got burned enough to be compromised. The ONF RR Page doesn't show the 2480 as closed, but it is.

The Obstruction point road is open and graded smooth as a baby's behinder.
