OK, I’ve been toying with this idea for awhile now… my roots are from the Kootenays, BC, but my riding roots are from PNW. So, I am inviting you and hosting (aka, giving directions and border crossing advice, squatting on as many camp sites as possible before hand, and pointing the way to the beer and wine store) a PNW ADV camp out. It might be complicated… ride time is 10-12 hrs (from Portland), need a passport, and have to leave your gun at home (sorry).

The dates are chosen for after snow melts (hopefully) on the surrounding mountains where the best riding is, and before big fires and bugs happen (hopefully). Yeah, lots of time until next summer, but better to have lead time to sort out passports and such.

There is plenty of big bike friendly riding, but there are a number of summits where you might be wishing for a smaller one (see videos in post #3).

The campground is first come first served, so if bringing a trailer, just need to be aware of potential space issues. The week I have scheduled for this is usually pretty good, but this place gets more popular every year. That being said, I doubt anyone who shows up with a trailer will be turned away, as there are overflow areas, too. If tenting, it's easy to get lots of tents into any of the sites, and most of the sites in the campground can accommodate a travel trailer. I'm going to get there the Monday before, if anyone wants to show up early. The campground has water and very basic vault toilets. No hookups and no cell service available, but there is wifi available (for a price) at the pavillion. Campground info: https://rdck.ca/EN/main/services/parks/glacier-creek-regional-park.html

There is no itinerary, other than a campfire each evening to gather around. I will bring a BBQ and extra coolers. Plan to take care of your own camp fees and to share your site with others. Bring food for yourself and/or food to share around the campfire. There is usually lots of firewood available, so no need to worry about that. If you're on your own and wish to find a riding buddy, you'll have no problem.

Also, it's a good idea to have bug repellent on hand. Generally, the place is pretty bug free, but some years have been bad, so it is hit or miss.

Yeah, and it kind of counts as being PNW, in my opinion. Not far north of the border.

Here are some videos I made from there this summer.

I am always ready for that. Late April is even really fun if the weather cooperates.
Okanogan Pear Cider on the deck of the Leland in Nakusp at about sunset. Very good. Camping in the city park there is good.
Moon Pass and Thompson pass today, but have to head home and work tomorrow
Trout lake would be cool if there was a store there.

Yes, VBOM. I'm thinking about the weekend before that. So, July 16-19th, or so. This one would be right on the way to there, right?:D

The campground I am thinking about is right on the lake, has water and vault toilets, no hookups. This year's price, $10/site. More if you put a pile of campers in a site, but not much. There is room for trailers, but they can fill up fast. Nearest store is about 15Km away and usually on the way to/from riding. There are other camping alternatives in the area, and even a BnB or two, I think. Kaslo is a cute town about 30 miles away with plenty of restaurants, gas, groceries, and lodging.

The local lookout is spectacular, and there are 2 more not far away...

It's "Jesus", and is that really a battle you want to pick with somebody offering to host an event?

    Sounds worth doing Sector!

Was it spelt in the Queens English? Bordour?

Or Canadian eh? With the implied apology eh?

This is Sector we're talking about, like ADV royalty, man, she can do no wrong. :raabia

Me and Nopo will make plans for this, probably should get a plate on the bike trailer though if we want back in the states...

Be great to see you again Sector!

Cool, I'm glad there's some interest!!

The campground I'm thinking of is the point on the lake, lower center, in the 3rd photo, taken from the LO. More than 1/2 of the sites are lake front.

Good point on the trailer tag, @tblume. At some point, I'll put together a list of things to think about for the border crossings. A trailer tag is not required, but you never know what will happen, randomly, based on whoever checks you at the border. I had a problem with lack of tag once. Wasn't a deal breaker, but caused a delay going into Canada.

I wonder if they will let me across the line again.
Remember the last time,? years ago,"I came to see my sister and Sector",,,when they got to,"have you ever been arrested?",,,anyway,,,,only because the border guys were both riders,,I hooked up their computer realm to ADV, showed them a pic of you,,and they let me right thru!:clap
Wonder if that will help again?:1drink

Likely the VBOM for me, so that makes the weekend before a bit too close for prep and travel to MT.
