So those of you carrying or thinking of carrying your mask in tank bag, what about the other stuff in said tank bag that you are now putting the infected face mask on.

Pretty much the same statement still applies.

Plus it is entirely possible I could have already been infected so why should I be a selfish asshole and blow it around all over the place possibly contributing to a few deaths - all because I won't wear a small piece of cloth over my nose and mouth to protect others. All because you want to brag about being a hard ass tough guy and show off just how much you don't give a shit about anyone but yourself. Thank God I'm not related to or live close to you. I'd hate to be around you if you had any infectious disease or virus.

I guess I'm just not the same box of rocks that cares less about anyone other than themselves as you seem to be.

I wear a full face helmet all the time too. Wanna make fun of that too, dillweed?

Not everyone is as much a doofus as you. And why do you even care... which I know you don't. Just want to justify your warped point of view.

Lmao! I no more breath on people now than i ever have before, none of the precautions are any differant than i learned as a small boy. Just because everybody lost thier collective minds over a virus doesnt make it right. Its a virus its not going anywhere and i noticed you have still not answered my very serious question, when are you going to remove mask? You can deflect all you want but it only proves my point. I have zero interest in wearing one to protect me or you just because maybe. Again it is a virus that is here for eternity so unless it is either eradicated (doubtful) or vaccine that is better than the flu shot people will forever die of this just like people die from the flu even with vaccine.

How so! Because I am not living and refuse to live in fear of something that is part of our existence whether you or I like it or not. So instead of calling me a troll how about answer my question, or are you waiting for some talking head on tv to tell you when you can remove your mask and stop being afraid.

I was trying to follow some of the mask practices I've read about. That means handling them after use as if they had virus on them.

I didn't even consider, wearing a bandana or neck gaiter all the time and just pulling it up when a mask is needed. That would look like protection, but if it actually got virus on it would seem to just spread it around. May well be enough when combined with distance and minimizing stops. Sure would be easier than the more careful methods.

By July, I hope to be stopping at rural gas stations with no pay-at-pump option and sometimes getting a cold soda between trails is very welcome. Of the 9 gas stations closest to me, only 2 have pay-at-pump. Between trails, there's not always a pay-at-pump within fuel range.

    Thanks for everyone's replies.

tip - to keep your fingers from touching the keypad of the self serve gas pumps, the little doggie bags which come in rolls can be used instead of glove quite effectively.
Toss in bin when finished, and your not using valuable PPE supplies.

I've seen people selling (online) little hook/pokers for keyrings to open doors, etc.

Makes me think I can use my ignition key on keypads, at least the metal ones. Take it from ignition, do the data entry required, put in gas cap to unlock . . .

Still have to use hand sanitizer after the nozzle. (Or doggie doo bags.)

Dr Fauci just gave an interview saying masks are only good for making people feel like they are doing something. How fucked up is making regulations based on making people feel like they are helping?

I found Dr Fauci's statement in a new video showing him speaking the first week of March when masks were in short supply.

He has been consistent since then recommending cloth masks to reduce transmission.

If you have a recent, pertinent, link, please share it.

People who use bandanas can search for themselves.

That's the video from the March 8 60-minutes broadcast.

At that time there was a shortage of masks in the U.S. and there were fewer than 500 (known) cases and fewer than 40 deaths.

I take it that you and @brianbrannon were mislead into thinking it was current and not taken out of context?

If you do have something current from Dr. Fauci saying not to wear a mask, please provide a link.

This convo devolved a bit, but it's about what I expected.

On topic: I'll probably carry a paper mask or two (I just got some last week, yay) in a tank bag but for now I've been pulling my balaclava up around others. That'd be my guess for this.

Off topic / secondary devolved topic: There are going to be a large number of folks in this community who either live in small / remote areas or parts of the country where coronavirus is not as prevalent, and that's fine - y'all probably think we're a bunch of idiot panicking "pussies" as @Mountainhound said, and that's fine. Do you. That said, a mask during actual pandemic risk times (like NOW) is a good idea to reduce risk of catching it, and reduce chances that YOU can spread it - those are facts, ignore them as your by-god-I'm-American freedom of choice allows you to.

I don't live in those kinds of areas (and there's times I wish I did, right now!) and so I'm wearing a mask.
I'm certainly guilty of seeing asian travelers and folks in CA wearing masks while traveling, or locally here in winter during cold/flu season, and thinking it was a bit overreactive, but those folks also lived through SARS when that shit hit Asia years ago, and I'll take my cues from people who had to go through that, because they were prepared for this, haha. Those are facts! :D
