    :freaky Whatsup MK?

I'm tryin' to set up a loose itinerary for the run to Dawson City and was wounderin' if you know if there's any decent places to camp on the Danali Hwy?

BTW, I'm still pondering a run to Inuvik after the festivities in DC, a lot will depend on weather and road condition (most likely runnin' two up this year).

I'll PM ya later this week to pick yer brain and wif some thoughts of me own...:deal

TOTALLY...your problem would be wanting to spend a couple nights camping.....but, there are quite a few lodging places also...almost plan on shitty weather..so, spending a little bank and holing up in a cabin with your bride my be best.....solo warriors would be a diff. story.

I'm thinkin' there'll be three of us travelin' together: MK, Glori and myself.

Some kind of lodging is always an option...Any ideas?:ear

    I just googled these guys...
http://www.denalihwy.com/ but they are on the end of the highway in Paxson....which could work out just fine cuz if you left Anchorage at 10am you would probably arrive there around 4pm with doodle time.

Kewlio... I'll be around. A kicked back relaxed run anywhere works for me. Inuvik sounds like a nifty idea, but agree with the weather concerns... I'd like to attempt more camping than last time, but mainly a fun and safe ride (sans bike troubles :D) is all anyone could hope for!

Not sure if we'd actually be camping on the way to Inuvik or not, but considering how bad the skeeters were at the circle up the Dalton in June, it'd be a challenge, that's for certain... :eek1

    MK and KF.....

If you boys are considering doing the "Dumpster" as your pre-Dawson ride and you're not interested in camping, you might want to consider getting accommodations at Eagle Plain for two nights. Several of us did the trip to Inuvik in '05 and due to a shortage of rooms at the end of the road, we had no place to stay. There are camping places up in Inuvik but we didn't particularly want to deal with the skeets. We ended up taking rooms at EPlains for 2 consecutive nights.
As it turned out there were many advantages to this plan:

We stashed/left stuff in the EPlains rooms resulting in lighter loads north bound to Inuvik. That saved on tire wear plus it made the GS's a bit easier to wrestle through the soft stuff.

We didn't have to rush south out of Inuvik because we knew we had rooms waiting in EPlains. Gave us more time to dine at the new Pizza Hut/ KFC joint. Why would you go if not for that??? We crossed over the Arctic Circle at midnight. Beautiful "magic" light for photos.

Rooms cheaper in EPlains. Gas/beer/food/clean rooms/great view.

Lack of daylight not a problem

Got to sleep in at EPlains because it was a short hop back to Dawson
    (280 miles)

Could have drawbacks if road/weather turns to snot.
Do not leave tire repair tools/mechanical/parts at E.Plains.

This might be a good plan for you. It is a beautiful run. Pack light, take a lot of pictures, don't make it a race. If it rains...... wait it out. Fite

Fite, thanks for the insite and word of wisdom. Sounds like the way to go as far as getting the room in EP and droppin' some gear.

When I did the recon in my truck this summer, I noted this shed along side the road....it could definitely be a bivy area if needed...I think it was just after Eagle Plains.
