I have a friend who does Charity rides. the money doesn't go to YOU. IE: "will pay xxx dollars for xxx miles, or reaching xxxx number of landmarks" its a very cool thing. The last I heard was a 5000 mile ride for toys for tots.
Dont know exact details, but after reading your posts, you sound like the sort of chap that might enjoy that.
Did you notice a lot of chain sprocket wear during the time of your trip? The photo is mine after a cross country trip.
Not too bad! My chain and sprockets were brand new, but I used a cheap chain and will replace it in the next month or so
Thanks for the excellent report. Having done a few myself, I'm a huge fan of trips on "inappropriate" cycles!
It was only after I saw the final pic that I realized... If you left THAT young woman to traipse all over the countryside, clearly that hardtail's jolting has jogged something loose in your cranium!
Kudos and props! Awesome stuff. 21 days and 1400 is an eye opener to those who think money is the answer.
Great ride and great ride report! How many miles did you cover overall?
Welcome back. I'm just down the road in the Atlanta area!
Damn. That was a good one. One of the best I've read. Thanks again for posting.
You had me at . . .
Love Tennessee (for riding) - Cleveland TN - gateway to the smokies - I've stayed at the applegate inn a few times . . . clean and decent for a cheap ($50) room. Really sad how many 'budget' hotels are sketchy drug/hooker infested shitholes - makes camping seem the civilized way to go --
Watching this report -- when you do another post a link here!
I bounced around alot, but when I got back I punched in my route via google maps and it was 6,890 I believe. Maybe a hair more for the times I would back track a little bit, but nothing significant!
Fantastic writing!! FWIW it's the best damn ride report I have ever had the honor to read, not that I am anyone important. Great pics, even the wavy ones. Kind of gave it a '70s flavor, like riding on an acid trip.
***** report here!
That's about 300 miles a day which is pretty incredible on a hardtail chopper with a peanut for a gas tank. Oh what I'd give to be young again! LOL
YESSSSSSSSSSSS to that!
Just read this RR again, (My son, Turner). Probably the best damn ride report ever!!! Great read!! Proud of ya bo'!!
Thanks for commenting and bumping it! I got to read it, fantastic.
When I was roughly your age I build a sporty with a 6" over girder on it and the king queen seat and did some traveling with my buddies. We called it "booney camping" Drank beer and stayed in pup tents. I am loving this report and would love to ride with you.
