I really want to build a nice old school chopper with ape hangers, a king & queen seat, and a girder front end. I want to base it on an old Amen Savior frame, Invader wheels, and a coffin fuel tank. For the motor I want something different. These frames usually use a XS650 engine or a old Honda 4 (550-750). Well, I own a cherry 78 XS650 and I'm not too much of a Honda guy. I'm thinking of a two stroke. I was thinking of a GT750 water buffalo motor but I'm having second thoughts because of the radiator. Maybe a GT550 motor? What other unique motors can you guys think of? Post any pics of old school choppers with metal flake, tuck and roll seats, and crazy paint jobs, murals even for inspiration.
If you have parts laying around that you'd be willing to sell, shoot me a PM!

Something like this? (minus the H-D engine)

I am guessing that this one has a Triumph engine.

There were all at the Motorcyclepedia Museum in Newburgh, NY.

I think the sound and power delivery of a two-stroke is going to be very strange for this type of bike. Unless that is exactly what you are going for. If you want to do it differently but still have the low rpm torque and deep sound of a traditional chopper maybe a Moto Guzzi or airhead BMW. :dunno

I always thought a Ducati engine would be cool in a bobber.
