Due to a cold and cold weather I was bored and starting looking for new trip ideas. I was checking Countdown's SMTS-NV tracks on GPSXchange.

I noticed that tracks from several rides we have done in the Alamo/Mesquite area were not included.

So I compiled them into the attached file for your consideration.

These are all great rides that I would love to do again.

I noticed that Alamo road thru the Desert National Wildlife Refuge was in your compilation. I wanted to take this road on a trip but upon doing some research I discovered that there is a portion that is legally closed because the powers that be got tired of rescuing stuck cars. People still use it, but at least one guy got a ticket for using it. I put a waypoint at the closed area.

My difficulty code is circle - wide graded gravel road, square - narrower less maintained road, triangle - gnarly two track. Green - easy and marginal boring, blue - fun, red - hard enough to be unpleasant at times.

If you want I would be happy to redit them per your suggestions.

I first tried to send these in a private message, but could not see any way to include a track file.

By new I assume you mean would be new to SMTS and recently ridden.

I overlayed my stuff on your existing tracks and came up with this:

    My track name
Alamo to Delamar mine – redundant but existing is low res<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
Alamo to Mesquite – all new<o:p></o:p>
Cedar City to Alamo – about 80% new, but about 45% is in Utah<o:p></o:p>
Indian Springs to Wheeler Pass – 60% new<o:p></o:p>
Kanab to Mesquite - All new but mostly in Arizona<o:p></o:p>
Mesquite to Alamo – lots of overlap with my Alamo to Mesquite.<o:p></o:p>
Mesquite to Hidden Canyon – all new but most of track is in Arizona<o:p></o:p>
Mormon Wells road – all new

I would be happy to edit these based on any suggestions you might have.

Thanks. It is nice to have lots of tracks in one place.

BTW here is a nice web site about dirt roads in southern Nevada. This is where I got the info on the Alamo road closure. A lot of these are out-and back tho.
