    I think most people just saw Neil as a GS rider, but he was much more than that. After reading all his books, I can say he was a super hard core rider. He would ride hundreds of miles day after, through shitty cold weather, with most rides including some portion of dirt......and then go play that night. Frequently he would pull into a concert venue on his bike and change the oil himself before getting on stage just so it would be ready to go the next day. He was also a master at route planning spending huge amounts of time do so to get the best possible ride in. National Parks were always include on rides if they were even remotely close.
    Quite possibly even more impressive was his bicycle touring, especially in BFE Africa....lots of hardship. I always looked forward to reading his next book....RIP

    I bought that album when it came out in '76, I put it on cassette and I think it ended up in the batch of cassettes I gave Hayduke :D
