I flew over the junction of the James Bay Road and the TransTaiga Road today. It looks cold down there. This is from slightly west of the junction looking east. The James Bay Road runs across the bottom of the picture and the TransTaiga stretches into the distance.

Here’s a shot also looking east, but from slightly east of the junction. You can see the TransTaiga stretch from the lower left to upper right. You can also see where the Eastmain diversion passes under the TranaTaiga. The flow keeps the water from freezing there. Everything else is frozen.

    Cool photos.

This from the same general area on May 19th 2014. This was an early spring.

A little west of the James Bay Road a bit south of Radisson looking west toward James Bay. The Caillet River (about 15 miles south of the La Grande) runs from the lower left to the center where it dumps into James Bay.

Here’s a shot of Radisson and the LG2/2a complex. You can even see the Giant’s Staircase. The La Grande River flows from the center to the lower-left. And the moon rising to the east.

Looking east toward the junction of the James Bay Road and the road that goes west to Wemindji.
Sorry about the quality. It’s an iPhone through an airplane window. 8138BCA9-8A03-496D-99EA-1F575C33AC47.jpeg

Fantastic pictures. I have flown to the UK and back a few times now, always looking down at the beauty of the North. Each time I think to myself I will get down there to see it further. I moved to Northern Ontario a few years ago. Still not got settled enough to be able to explore properly, but it is a big part of why I am here.

The Sarcelle dam. This one is on an access road off the Eastmain cutoff (connecting the JBR with the North Road via the Opinaca dam). The access road to Sarcelle appears to go on quite a bit further and dead ends at a mine. I’ve never found any ride reports on this road. I may have to change that some day.

Nice Pictures, looks like you made the flight plan to fly over some of the classic ADV ride destinations. :thumb
