So hard to believe it was this long ago. I'll always remember what being there that day was like, and am still thankful to have been a witness to it.

Family's good.......yours? Must be busy...takes me two months to notice a post:-)

I am in fact too busy...only put a little over 1000 miles on the bike last year. Off to a better start this year thanks mostly to a lot of great weather & a nephew that is mowing my yard:deal

Always good to see this thread resurrected. Brings back a lot of good memories. Do you have any contact with Scott?

    Take care of yourself.......

I came to this RR a few years late. It's chewed up my nights & weekends for a month reading it. AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME, report! Thanks for writing it. Glad things are going well for you Josh & your family.

That's too bad. What is the story behind this? Kaneman's trip and his report is still my favorite thread on ADVrider.

Just finally got through all 357 pages, although I must say that the only posts I read for the entire trip were Josh's.. only when he got back to Texas did I start reading what everyone else was posting and it's pretty sad, man. Just goes to show you that even with so much positivity, a few negative, whining morons can screw things up.

Great trip and great report. If I found this thread a few years ago I'd surely have sent some cash to that paypal account and not cared if it went to bike expenses or bills.. just as long as it made the ride possible.

    Great stuff, man. Good job.

I didn't have a dog in that fight. But I took a Spur of the moment trip very similar, just not as long & I didn't mooch off anyone.I visited friends & stayed in motels..my write up wasn't as long, or as exciting, but I had fun at My expence.. I would not have taken any money from anyone for a fun trip..
Now if I was on a trip & broke down, needed help I would except with payback...He started his trip broke & expected everyone to pay his way...
Not the way I would have done it. That was his way, to some it didn't matter, but a lot of others it did..Me, I donated 0, so I can't say either way..just how "I" would & did do it..

Nothing could be further from the truth. He started the trip with $3K.
He saved the money on his own. He planned on camping and eating cheap.
When he ran out he was gonna head for home.

The raising money idea came from others that wanted to help. I helped him replace his ZRX when it went down. He never asked or expected it. People helped cause they wanted too. If the thread in JM had not have started the entire trip woulda turned out different.

    WOW, blast from the past.

Thought this thread, and the unnecessary drama it caused, was burried or hidden in the abyss of the blogospere.

I had never read such hatred or jealousy. I dont understand why some here thought it was their place to ruin this kids ride, granted he could have reacted a little differently.

Atleast he convinced me to buy a V-Strom.
