Today. A beautiful spring day...
Airhead GS in the hills with a few friends
You cant show us a sidecar rig without a shot from the sidecar side!
After being a r80g/s owner for more than a dozen years. I'm adding this one that I made a deal on over in the FM and picked up yesterday:
Having a 1993 GSPD riding in the back of a 1991 Toyota seems right!
For those that missed it in the big board, Some assembly required:
Transmission needs rebuild, air box, carbs to be mounted, headers, collector, Driveshaft is out. But the bones should be good, HPM Guy was super nice. It features a few of his good creative bits: (custom top plate, and pin mount for the scotts stablizer, Brake relocation for the six pot, and a really amazingly strong and lightweight rack.)
There's a Ohlins on the back end, Jesse's bags.
Anyone know a good transmission rebuilder in San Diego/ Southern California? There's three to go through, one lost it's guts when the non circlip led to it, the other two: one is showing shavings at the oil.
From the rear coming back from the mid winter Brass Monkey Rally (June '21)
In between those two shots the rig has been written off & I have mostly rebuilt it. The sidecar axle broke (there was an inclusion in the axle from manufacture).
Before I put the HPN tank on it, & when I still had the Velorex as a chair (Clarence River Reserve)
Just back from my annual “ Backroads To Bella Coola Trip “
It was an eight day trip, fortunately I managed to stay dry the entire time.
End of the road, again
Amazing, I need to get up there.
I ride in that area from around the end of March to mid October.
Once border travel gets safer and easier, feel free to contact me.
I’d be happy to show you around.
I am in need of a bit of help with the PD paint scheme. I am currently in the process of getting my R9T Scrambler painted and I am painting it like this beautiful bike below.
I need help with the measurements on the tank.
1. What is the angle of the stripes on the tank?
2. What are the thickness of the stripes without the pinstipes?
3. What is the distance of the first red stripe from the roundel without the pinstripe?
Here's the bike that will be getting painted, so not to worry, it's not a poser bike that just sits around...
Align the stripes with the fork.
I don't have the tank to measure, hopefully someone can provide exact info you requested.
In the meantime, not sure if this would help?
Good luck, post a pic here when complete.
on my part. If it was a snake, it would have bit me... An I would have deserved it.
Any measurements on the strips?
Thanks, I've been using this as a guideline for the design. The guy that's striping it has been doing it since the 70's, and I want to get him as much info as possible.
No measurements from me, I still plan to paint mine like that some time but it might not be next year either. : lol3
So many people get that angle wrong, especially the older kind with the 800/1000 numbers, even on otherwise perfect restorations you can find them crooked.
Looks like your fork angle is different from the PD, but I’d still follow the forks instead of introducing a new line on the bike.
Something like this Zoul?:
Nice pic of the GSDP by the way
Perfect! Do you know how far the roundel is from the stripe?
That is a nice pic. I stole it from a couple of pages back.
