    Nice work.

What if you adjust the system to a slightly leaner AFR ( Am I correct, 14.7:1 is ideal?), would that improve your mileage without sacrificing engine longevity?

What about lower viscosity engine oil, reducing parasitic losses, are these improvements that would make sense without sacrificing reliability?

    Roger,

Given the price of motor fuel, I'm thinking of converting the boxer to a 2-stroke. Would there be any mileage gains therefrom?

Seriously, as for fuel mileage Im going to just ride. I have the TBs built & sync done, bike running very nice although its a bit boggy accelerating under load from low rpms, 1st/2nd/3rd mainly & up to 3500 or so. Almost feels like slight fuel starvation on acceleration. Sort-of-like old muscle cars i used to fool with and had holley carbs with wrong pump cam/wrong pump-shot (gas) for "that" engine. Stumbled until tuned correctly.
Its not real bad, and is less pronounced after the temp is up. Also, i can stop for a meal about 30min and the bog gets a little worse after a quick cool-down, then improves shortly after.

Thoughts?...... Fuel injectors dirty?........Valves not exact?
Maybe I can get better educated in Huntsville this month(chicken rally).

    Sorry.

There was a company that designed direct injected 2-stroke systems that were emissions compliant. It appeared that our 2-stroke outboard engine technology might be salvaged.

I guess they didn't get any Obama money and so abandoned the design.

    Too bad...I like two strokes.

I was hoping that someone with more experience than me had access to the BSFC curves for one of the Oilheads. It would tell us a lot about the engine.
