My buddy and I just finished 191 last week on two Harleys. Frankly, we were disappointed. The pavement quality was abysmal and there were few places to pull over to admire the scenery. Literally a road to nowhere. It was only when we got to Hannagan Meadow that the road surface improved enough for us to relax. We found US 60 through the Salt River Canyon to be a much better ride. Wrong bikes for the job I guess. Maybe if we'd been on a couple of KLR's or something.

I didn’t notice any bad road section issues, maybe on the old tech suspension it all felt the same. It was a riot, never felt tire slippage not anything bad enough to make the bike change direction or scrape and I used all the tire :dunno

Those old cb750s are great bikes. Bet it was a hoot to do a ride on like that.

Wonderful trip report, John! I had no idea El Camino del Diablo (the Devil's Highway) was as well known outside Arizona. The story is that it originally got its name from Cortez; he and his men allegedly went through the area in the summer, searching for El Dorado. Wearing all of the armor, etc. of a conquistador during a trek through Arizona in the summer would be enough for anyone to think it was the devil's highway!

I'm happy you enjoyed your trip!

That’s good info thanks for adding it to the report. That would have been cool to have in the back of my mind while riding it.

I’ve done the Mexico devils back bone going in to Mazatlán Mexico. It was a riot as well.

I’m really liking the old girl. Changing the oil pan in preparation for a light skid plate. I’m taking her to Colorado in August.

Thanks, that’s encouraging to hear. I struggle with them for sure, but figure if some one likes it then it’s worth it to me. My sourthern style English and typing issues means someone really has to want to read it or they just over look it.
