Hi guys, I am announcing a project I launched on our local adventure forum www.RidAventure.ca

We called it the Raid RidAventure... and it consist in a road that will maximize gravel and trails to make what we think is the longuest possible itinerary around the Quebec province.

So far the trail is getting over 4600 km (2850 mi).

As soon as we can ride, many rider from the targetted regions will ride thier sector to confirm that the trail is usable ans comment it or propose alternatives...

Here is the real track from june 2009, 2300 km in 6 days

Thanks for posting, but we do try to stick with .gpx to keep things open for all.

Also, that's a lot of data, it covers much of Quebec. :bow

hen you have time, you might want to consider breaking things up into byte size segments that folks can use for planning rides.

    Thanks again.

OK, PhilSpace, i'll bring something more usable next time I post an update.

by the way it is and will remain free, I don't agree with the idea of selling itineraries like the TAT...

Here's a more detailed description of the project

Like the TransAm Trail, the Raid RidAventure will be a road for dual purpose bikes, therefore a max of gravel, fire roads, and trails that are ridable by a big bike when in good condition, and may not be ridable by a big bike in some sections in some conditions by some riders (alternative routes would then be given as far as possible).

The Raid RidAventure is a road that will make the greatest possible tour of Quebec, which could be done in several days, in several steps depending on the availability of each. So far the trail is still in progress ans is 4600 km (2850 mi).

The RidAventure Raid is not a ride or an event, but a road that everyone does in his own way according to his schedule, a little this year, slightly next year, or all of a sudden for th elucky ones...

Which does not exclude that Raid event could be held, rallye, group competition or recreation or touring, we will see all that when we have our road.

This road is not intended to be the hottest hard core trail in Quebec, the hottest are almost always dead ends as Shefferville and Labrador city, the challenge is to setup a course that allows a tour of Quebec the way we like it, in the dirt!

The first map above gives an idea of the territory that it will cover, a kind of "Quebec Long Way Round".

I think if everyone dig in its tracks, or examine its region, we will find pearls of roads and trails and we are going to build a circuit in a few exceptional seasons.

I dream of starting a week in the small roads and trails in Quebec and camping out in our beautiful regions, imagine a week in which we camped in all major regions of Quebec ... Laurentide, Abitibie, North Coast, Gaspésie, Beauce, .....

I would love to help. I just started last year ride Dual sport and I'm hooked.

I had to stop mid summer because I'm building a house up in Namur. I hope

to be finished by end of March. The first camping ride for me will be going

up to La Tuque for the 12 hour Race on the 16-17-18 of May. Just to

watch. In between races we are planning rides in the trails around La

    Tuque. Should be fun.

Two of us were planning on riding from montreal to the end of the trans-taiga this july but now we are thinking of taking your route instead. Looks great, keep us all informed as the route develops and sections get ridden.

Absolutely Endurorazor, as you may know we will attack it last week of may, and keep you in touch here and certainly in a ride report.

Mean while, you may be interested to know that we found a set of map, free, that is a lot more accurate than topo canada, but there is no routing feature... not bad considering that there is a lot of routes and trails that do not appear on aging topo canada.

you can get it here : http://www.ibycus.com/ibycustopo/

where are you guys from ?

when are you planning to do the trip ?

Thanks for the link, I downloaded the ibycus file, works great. Looks like the majority of your route is dirt which is awesome. We were shooting for riding it in July. We are from Maryland and have ridden the Trans Am Trail to Oregon and rode all the way to Prudhoe Bay Alaska. I'm really looking forward to riding a long route thats closer to home.

My ride report after the may trial will confirm everything, but it sure is an awsome itinerary...

sure is all gravelle roads, only thing I don't now yet is if this is big truck lumber roads or trails... but as soon as truck stop using these roads, 7 years after it becoms real adventure, forest close up on each side very fast, damaged bridges are not fixed or even replaced, they even demolish it some time to re-use materials....

All tha tin picture and videos early june.

And I will send you my adress since I am living few km from the start line.
