I think I just put all of that back on.
Static recuperation with a steady beer intake can do that to the best of us
Curious about your progress, Rob. Also, with your shock relocation did you change the shock length and/or spring rate? I'm giving my bike some treatment and am thinking of this.
Same length, but by tipping it forward you increase the swing arm rotation length. But when you do this, you create more leverage on the shock, so you have to go with a stiffer spring. That change depends on your weight and the wieght of the bike.
Ok, that's kinda what I thought. It looks like there is plenty of room to move the upper shock mount to where you'd need it and at the same time lift the bike to the height you want. I might make a bolt on lower shock mount to play around with the geometry and shock leverage.
Looking forward to seeing progress on your bike! Lojack
Yep, Since it's never been done, it's pretty much trial and error.
hay, mate - hows Your build doing, no posts here for a while. read through the whole thing in one blast, got loads of useful info - but still looking for some, in-frame-oil for example.
any news? or have you dropped the project?
his KTM EXC happened
hah. I've got a few projects like that...
the irony is delicious
Disappointing..... I reckon.
Hey what ever rocks your boat. As long as it has two wheels and makes angry noise when you twist the throttle it's all good.
hahahaha he resisted like the rest of us.
first ride on a KTM and it was all over.
bike builds are fun but you can't polish a turd.
450XCW has killed all momentum on this project. Although, I'm not riding much (at all) these days anyway...
Do any of you guys have news on your composites parts???
How about oil in frame?
I recall there were several projects in process, in addition to that crazy Dakar....
Shame, as this thread is not just great, it's inspirational!
2 years later, anybody?
more like 3 ½ years later.
Great thread, pity it's been nearly dead for 5.5 years
Terrific mods, but mostly the skid plate and side stand seem applicable to doing on my bike used for touring too.)
