I was going to get the Harbor Freight version, but when I saw your post yesterday, I went over to Home Depot. They had it for $30, but I bought it and am very happy! Due to the other posts, I am going to store it inside instead of out in my shop because of cold temperatures.
Forgot about this one: http://www.harborfreight.com/4-1-2-half-inch-angle-grinder-95578.html Pass. Mine is a couple years old, very well used, and still doing great! The HF grinding discs are OK, but the flapper discs and grinding discs wear out very quickly. Jim
I have the 5 drawer service cart - it's now 4(?) years old. Old enough that it comes with a locking hinged support, rather than a gas strut, and doesn't have the spray can storage on the side. It's pretty good, although not fantastic. The hardware to hold it together was made from chalk or taffy or something. I used some better quality stuff I had at the house. The slides could be stronger - the drawer full of 1/2" drive sockets & ratchets drags a little. However, for $150 to $200 it can't be beat.
I have the exact same safety wire pliers that I ordered from Harbor Freight about 17 years ago... Never failed, work great!
I recently ordered a hose clamp kit, it was on sale for $4 and it has 40 or so small clamps. I have only used 2 clamps from it so far, and both of them stripped with only moderate pressure from a screwdriver so I'll give it a thumbs down.
Low profile aluminum racing jack - pass.. http://www.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/floor-jacks/rapid-pump-15-ton-compact-aluminum-racing-jack-68053-html-7814.html Paid about 50 bucks on sale and it lifted my old 740il tank with no problems. The low profile front roller lets it get under cars with a front air dam. Four drawer rolling tool cart - major pass. http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/tool-cabinets-and-carts/580-lb-capacity-four-drawer-roller-cart-95659.html I have three other rolling tool boxes, but this thing gets the most use. I love having all the tools right next to the car when doing a brake job, etc. Very heavy and well built. Paid about $100 with coupon. 6" stainless steel magnetic bowl. Pass. http://www.harborfreight.com/6-inch-magnetic-parts-holder-97825.html I have three of these, paid about 2 bucks a piece on sale. Very very handy when assembling or tearing down.
It has been previously determined that type of hardware is composed of recycled chewing gum wrappers. Agreed - I have a set and you can't tighten them enough to "clamp" anything. They are truly a worthless waste of money (and recycled chewing gum wrappers!)
There was a center aisle stack of them around Christmas time among all the stocking stuffers for 19.95. I should'a grabbed one.
Anybody try this lift yet? I don't have much garage space so I was considering this one. Gets good reviews on their site. http://www.harborfreight.com/automo...ands/high-position-motorcycle-lift-99887.html
I have that lift and love it. The bike is rock solid on it and you can raise it up very high so you don't have to bend over at all. I paid $150 I think on sale and am very happy with it. The blue ones are all gone it seems, they only come in red now.
I wouldn't call it in the way but it's there. Only a few inches wide but I don't have the side of the bike right up against that vertical bar anyway, there's a few inches clearance, probably depends on how wide your bike is. Mine's a KLR650, so no problems with that. Depending on what I'm going to be working on I'll put the most appropriate side out so I have the best access. Once you lift it all the way up it's not an issue at all. It's different than other smaller jacks because you can't roll the bike around once it's up, so lift it where you want to work on it and that's that.
My wife made me buy this a year or two back. I was not keen on buying a Chinese product. Then came the hurricane. Ran for 75 plus hours over the course of a week long power outage. Flawlessly provided 20-30 amps of service. Best $600 I ever spent
I talked the manager of the Green Bay HF store down to $289 for a 7x10 mini lathe. That little lathe has done more cool stuff and gotten me out of more jams....and nothing's gone wrong with it during the 8 years I've had it, except the time a plastic die I was making popped out of the chuck (my fault) and jammed and blew the gears out of the headstock. I think a new set of gears cost less than 5 bucks and they were better than the ones that broke.
This thread is helpful for checking out deals, coupons and freebies. Go to the big post called "Wiki Community Board": http://slickdeals.net/f/1276399-Harbor-Freight-Coupon-Thread I have their multimeter and it does the job. Best of all I got it free, with a coupon: I bought these gloves for tire changes, cleaning the chain, etc....they aren't very good. They rip very easily. I have medical-grade, latex surgical gloves that are much better.
