Debating with myself if I should lower the headlight, what do you think?
It is a little high. That's not the original light or brackets , are they ? The light looks BIG.
Noooo it's not, I was going for the classic british cafe look with the setup like that.
The headlight is 7"
Looks good to me.
Looks extremely nice to me!
Tell us, how does it behave in the road?
I actually don't know :) I am still fiddling with alot of small issues and will be moving to a new house tomorrow, so I don't know when I'll do the first testride
If I were you, I couldn't wait for giving the bike a little test ride. Here I like to say that when I repair a bike i have to do the test drive (confusing it a little bit with driving cars instead of riding bikes)
Anyway, It's a great achivement to finish the restoration of a bike, and more when you are moving to another house.
It seems that we'll have to wait until your moving is complete to watch a video of the bike running in the road.
It's been VERY hard not doing it :) But I just had some small stuff to do all the time.
Removed the oilpump today and some other small stuff, so I am almost there now. VERY little needs doing :)
Going to look at this seat/tank combo tomorrow.
The thought is to get it running now, and then do small projects that won't take it off the road, but still converting to a racer.
I got the blue glass set from the XS650! It was a good deal too. I moved away from my RD, so there's about 90kms from me to it. Next weekend I'll drive down and see how it all fits on it, which is going to be exciting.
Though to fit it I'll have to make new brakets and weld them onto the frame. Something I would have liked to avoid, but hey... A monoshock is coming too. I got an LC swingarm for ~25USD, so I couldn't resist.
I also have a small shipment from Yambits coming in. I ruined the clutchcover gasket while removing the oilpump drive. Also a new pivot spindle w. nuts is coming. So the first incarnation of my RD is more or less ready :)
In the future I want a GPZ305 frontfork and some brembo calipers and master.
What's the riding position feel like? Seat looks pretty far back. Long tank and RDs are short.
It's pretty stretched, might be going for ace bars at some point.
But looking at the TZ replicas like this, shows its the same for all the others too.
So... Did you say it i'll be your commuter?
You can either have the old LOOK or handling.
Its the same as the production racers of the time. So handling should still be fine.
I was just looking at pictures. Believe it or not , but your tank looks to be a few inches short in comparison to a TZ250B , judging by the swingarm pivot/tank relation. Yours may handle better.
This exact combination has also been ridden and raced in the Nordic Classic GP, so I think I'll be fine :)
