Same here. If I'm still able enough in 2021.
my depart date is June 27th for Alaska i'm still holding my trip to the last day been in the works for 2 years my work has cut back 1/3 of the work force and going for more soon. i have 5 weeks set aside, its either Alaska or out west to use my 7 weeks up or i could lose it .
Just think about how few predictions and pronouncements have been accurate during this mess. The real answer is we just do not know when the border will open or when pigs will fly.
Same here......98 percent sure my Alaska trip is a washout for this year. I have things already lined up for 2021.....so my target date for Alaska will be 2022. But all is not lost because I have an 8 week mega out west trip lined up!
Yeah - trying to look on the bright side. I was planning an Iron Butt Association Ultimate Coast to Coast, but had the SMCA 4 corners tour as a backup (which is now also not putting on rides). I attempted the UCC in 2018 and didn't make it; so this has been ~3 years in the planning
I may have to drive an RV up and luckily for Alaskan residents: Canada is allowing this as long as your don’t mingle with them unless you need gas. I’m married so I don’t plan to touch any of them.
Please don’t touch the Canadians: ‘Self-contained’ Alaska travelers can transit through Canada
The border closure has been extended another 30 days
Where did you read about the 30 day extension?
Yup, heard rumors yesterday. I guess that neither of the beasts will get ridden very far this summer even though I've finished getting the second one fully prepped for a long adventure just a couple days ago
Hopefully I'll still be in shape to do this next summer.
Be safe and stay healthy y'all!
Thank you for the.....”heads up”. It is official for me......I’m shooting for Alaska in 2022. That will be a 70th birthday present to my self. But this year it will be an extended out west trip.....6 to 8 weeks. I’m in Georgia....will leave out early July for the Pacific Northwest.....will lots of interesting places to see....going and coming!! Safe travels to everyone!
BC just closed the Provincial campgrounds to non residents
I live out west and there are some great place between here and there to ride. Plenty to ride out here.
Olympic peninsula and Whidbey Island makes for a nice visit.
The Olympic peninsula is a “biggie” on my bucket list. I’ve never been to Olympic National Parl......and I am most defiantly looking forward to the trip!!
I see your "closed til the end of June" and raise you an "end of July;
Drop me a note when your coming and I would love ride along and buy you a PNW cup of coffee or microbrew, if things are open!
2 week quarentine or current Covid test to enter AK now. I guess the hotel employees will report anyone leaving their room even yet locals are running about as if everything was normal.
I'm trying to head to Alaska next Month and wanted to see if Canada was allowing travel, especially from Haines across the Yukon back into Alaska. I've call the Border and they Said no 'Non Emergency Travel', however this seemed like a blanket response and I've heard of others who have crossed there. Does anyone know for sure what the situation is? Thanks, Dylan
