    Me, yesterday:

    upload_2019-4-23_7-42-31.png

Perfectly clear & dry morning. NO traffic. I'm stopped at a red light.

"My foot slipped!!" Riiiiight. And the fog was in your eyes. :rolleyes

Anyway, I'm fine. Back is a little "off" today. I did take the optional ambulance ride to the hosp to at least see a doctor. I have two herniated discs from a previous condition (being old and "worn out" :lol3), so I am fearful of a recurrence of sciatica, which I've had a couple times before.

In term of "how could I have handled this differently", I guess I could have watched my "six" instead of just relaxing at the light. Not sure if I would have been able to react in time to it if I had been – but who knows. :dunno

On the bright side, looks as if the perp might be insured and have deep pockets. :augie

Good luck with the health part first, then the moto-fix.

FWIW, I bet he has more damage to his Escalade than I have to my bike!:

Pro tip: "I was just hit by a car" is a great way to get a fast emergency response if you ever have to call 911 in NYC.

"I was just in a traffic crash, and need the police" <-- 1-2 hrs for police to arrive
"I was just hit by a car" <-- 7-10 minutes :deal

It's a taxi driver. Maybe, maybe not.

I'm lucky as fuck to be alive and in one piece. SECOND time I've been rear-ended on a bike. Last time was just short of 10 years ago.

I lost a whole day of work, so I gotta start getting organized on that first. Then I have to go to a precinct and get the police report.

Glad you're standing upright. My guess is easily a 1/3 of NYC car drivers are playing on their phones & operating a 3-4 ton vehicle at the same time. God forbid someone actually came to a full stop at a light and not interact with their phone while waiting for the light to turn green.

DAMMIT! Glad you appear to be okay. This is one of my biggest fears. Im glad this wasn't high speed. We can add all the extra brake lights we want on the back of our motorcycles (and both mine have them), but thats not going to stop some jackass on their phone from plowing into the back of you. Heal quick bud. Riding season is finally here.

Everything you feel, every symptom. Nausea. Vertigo. Headaches. Headaches. Fingers tingling.

I had the same happen to me 2 months ago, except the car was going ~45mph and I got thrown off the bike. Same thing, minding my business at a red light.

Was your driver on their phone?

Heal up quick. Glad you're alive.

Check the rear hub, those tail lights tend to explode ANYWAY (I'm on my third now) .....yeah methinks KTM 1 Caddy 0 is going to be the way that rolls.

Wiseblood, bro there are better ways to stand the bike up

Glad you're OK. Do save all the medical paperwork, as you may have to retain an Attorney.

I got rear ended on the Motorcycle twice. First time "Her" insurance coverage (GEICO) denied my claim, so I sued and got a nice settlement.

Second time was by a Mexican female driving a POS car, who then scooted back to Mexico. My Insurance company couldn't find her.

That really sucks! Glad you are ok! This is one of my biggest fears as well. I installed a additional brake light from Clearwater Lights called a Billie Light. Not sure it will help but I guess it can't hurt. Folks these days are too busy on their phones and other distractions. Not good...

That’s a crazy picture, makes it look like your bike didn’t move and the car crumpled around it. Glad you’re ok!

That pic is a keeper! Glad to see your are ok!
OTOH, in my case, 16 yrs ago, I had the exact same pic, for a second. Then the momentum of the pizza guy, booted my bike about 40 down the road, and off into the grass - destroyed.
Me? I went up in the air, came down on the hood, then onto the pavement, away from the car. L2 vertebra shattered with shards into my spinal cord, and initial signs of paralysis in both legs.
After they jolted me around in the ambulance ride, and moved me from the gurney to the Xray table, some parts realigned, and I got feeling back in my legs, after about 2 hrs. A kewl little alien cage in my back to replace the destroyed bone, and a lifetime of searching for the best way to sleep, walk, and survive. Papa Johns paid up, but I'd rather have full strength and empty pockets.

Looks like you were stopped in the center of the lane.
Would it been better to be left or right of center?

How can someone not notice a mega tall guy wearing a partial Hi-Viz helmet in broad daylight?
This has cager texting/reading written all over it.
Besides, in NYC most TLC drivers with a giant Escalade or Suburban are the worst of the lot when it comes to their driving skills.
Glad to read that you are relatively okay, hopefully your Katoom will be fully good to go once again.
