    Guys,

    some detail about both rides:

    a. Jambughoda Dam it: Was basically sick of the 40 deg C heat here in Ahmedabad India. So this fish needed water, lots of it. And off I went :D

    First stop was Sayaji sarovar (ajwa lake) - just above the distance
    scale - blue water body Then some horizontal distance across, and a
    little southward, is Jhand Hanuman and Kada dam.

    At the right edge of the map, and a little above ajwa - huge water
    body - that's sukhi dam (panorama pic).

    Route: NH8 Baroda - Ajwa - Back lane- Pavagadh - Jambughoda - Kada -
    Jhand Hanuman - Sukhi Dam - home

    450 odd kms in all: 4am-8pm!

    b. Jodhpur:
    What was to be a six day all-Rajasthan ride culminating in a friend's
    marriage turned into a damp squib with just two days available to me -
    Sunday & Monday. Left the house planning for a trip to Udaipur (250km away) but ended up diverging to Jodhpur and onward. just a bit here and there :D

    Now the pics:

    Jambughoda:::
    In search of the elusive lake shore (one side is a park where guards keep one away from the water - boring boys :p)

    great one, buddy!

    you deserve points for taking your streetbike into places where many of us wouldn't take our dualsports.

    must be nice to live near such great riding and historical places.

    @SimpleSimon: Thanks :)

    SinFrenas,

    Well, its more like having no choice really. I come from Delhi, which is 4 hours from the mighty Himalayas. Where I currently stay, the teeniest 1000 ft pile of rocks is 5 hours away :D Good beaches are away too. The forts of Rajasthan are close at 8 hours, so you see we do what we can. And I take my street bike because Indian mfrs produce only sub 250cc lawnmowers and imports attract a 105% duty, impossible homologation, and yet, no insurance :D Spare parts are a tangled mess of ebay, customs and international credit cards :p

    I'm always amazed by our fellow Indian riders riding their street bikes into the most extreme of dual sporting conditions without ever complaining about their rides!! Someone should import or manufacture under license the KLR for the Indian market.. Thanks for posting :thumb

    @S10Rat: Thanks :)

    Well we don't complain, not on ADV, because we already have been b*tching for years on our indian forums - so we're used to it. When you can't avoid ----, enjoy it :D

    And yes, KLR is on my radar. though of late, have come around to the view that non availability of spares/insurance for KLR/VStroms/KaTooMs means that its better to take a top end Indian bike, retrofit a foreign bike's suspension, strengthen a bit here and there, and within 2-2.5k USD we should have a very fun bike that's repairable in most places :)

    Thanks for the kind words, as always GB :)

    PS: Since i've been on ADV, I've seen sooo many pics of bikes jumping through the air - that in another six months post Leh, I will master that art once the new suspension gets setup! :)
