This thing's been bantered about long enough. I'm pulling the trigger!

Weather's looking good (so far) for one last campout.

    What: Motorcycle campout

When: Halloween weekend October 30-31 (into Nov 1st if we dare) Yup. That's next weekend.

Where: Recompence Shore Campground, Freeport, Me.

How: Farm rules – you want it there, you bring it.

To paraphrase mutineer over in the BYOB thread...

No band. No meal. No maps/route sheets. No organized rides. No stickers. (I do however have a roll of duct tape and a Sharpie I could improvise with if that's a deal breaker.)

This is about hanging with your moto-buddies, riding motorcycles - no matter what they are - and meeting back at camp at the end of the day to tell lies over a few refreshments. :freaky

If that ain't enough, stay home. You won't have any fun.

You are responsible for your own good time and safety.

One last thing – weather goes south like it is here today and I'm playing my Sally card.:deal :lol3

Well cool... Close enough that I can go on home if I wanna or can't tell enough riding stories or whimp out on the weather or don't like the company... :lol3
    Sounds good...

Hey Foo, you out there.... :dunno

Is the camping by gang site or per camper er wot... :scratch

One more Guzzi and it's an official rally!:lol3

"GOG to the white courtesy phone, please, GOG to the white courtesy phone..."

Per camper or site? Good question. They're pretty loose this time of year as far as actual 'layout' of camp but I'm sure as far as payment they'll want something similar to their rate based on campers. I can call back up there after some feedback here and get a better answer.

Here's a couple of pics of the area and types of sites. This one (actually 2 or 3) would make a good group area as it's more remote - like there'll be a bunch of other campers.:lol3

This one is closer to the shore and has a few more trees but the roots aren't as tent friendly for multiple tents.

This one I like to call the 'Sally' Port.:D It's hanging in the backround as a backup plan if the weather turns.:deal :lol3

Big question is: do I take the VStrom and be humiliated by the fast riders, or take the Ural so I have an excuse? :evil :evil

The usual disclaimer applies: if the weather sucks as much as today, I'll prolly wuss out.

Chef's choice on the bike. What time you think you'll head up? I may sneak out early Friday if I can get things lined up enough to allow it. Got a few days left I have to use up.:deal

I'll think about which bike. Still very green on 3 wheels. I have Friday and Monday off, so the schedule is wide open. Your call.

    EC,

I'm with you. I'll check in with Titania, but think we might be enjoying the company of a few ADV folks, eh?.

    It ain't a race.:deal

What time can you head out, Doug?

    :clap

Planning on calling up there later today and giving them a confirmed heads up that we'll be up that way. Wanna make sure there's plenty-O-firewood.:kumbaya Although, if it's too cold, Bean's is open 24hrs. I may do some late night shopping in the camping section.:augie

:snore "Sir? Sir? We don't mind if you get in and try the tents out but your snoring is starting to give Maintenance concerns about the glass in the windows..." :lol3

Any of you locals want to suggest some riding in the area? Good eats? I know Gritty's is near by but am definitely open to suggestions.

Bucks Naked BBQ is pretty good eats..:thumb :thumb

If needed my wife can truck over some fire wood.

Local riding is OK at best...it's not like we have any mountains to play in or much dirt around. You need to go north or west for the good stuff.

Blackfly is a great one for ride ideas...

I could probably leave home 3:00 Friday which I figure is the latest I would want to leave and be able to get the tent set up before dark (I hate how quickly it gets dark this time of year!).

I might be able to ditch work as early as 1:00 and will try to do so if you guys will be leaving that late. I work from home and will have the bike packed up the night before so possibly you could swing by my place and we leave from here? As I figure it I am probably about 1/2 way between you and Baiku so it might be a good meet up spot.

Worst case I may have to leave early sat morning and meet you there.... hopefully I can do both nights however.
